Thinking back to this exact moment with Zuri, before she went missing a few years ago. There was an eerie, breathtaking stillness in the air when she stepped out from the shadows. Framed perfectly by the moss-covered branches, she looked right through the lens—and straight into the soul.

It’s hard to believe how much time has passed since she was last seen. In the wild, disappearances are a reminder of the raw, unpredictable nature of life. We like to think she just found a deeper path into the uncharted forest, far away from tracks and cameras, living exactly as she was born to do.

Peeking through the frosted golden grasses, a legend in the making locks eyes with the world. 🌿🐆

"Kolla", famously known as the Prince of . For those who follow the highland of , seeing this beautiful face is always a heart-stopping moment. Born into the misty silence of the cloud forests, Kolla is part of the famous 2020 litter of Lily and has quickly stolen the hearts of wildlife enthusiasts across the island.

The leopards that rule are distinct from their lowland counterparts. Adapted to the biting chill of the montane grasslands and sustained by a protein-rich diet of Sambar deer, they grow into noticeably heavier, broader, and more imposing apex predators.

Even when he was a playful cub learning to navigate the dense undergrowth, his unique features were undeniable. If you look closely, he bears a highly distinguishable set of rosette markings—most notably the precise trio of rosettes sitting near his left eye and a distinctive sickle-shaped mark right above his right eye.

The contrast between his brilliant rosette patterns and the absolute darkness of the jungle tells the entire story of his stealthy nature.

Two are always better than one, but trying to lock focus on Kolla while his sister kept stealing the frame? Definitely one of the biggest photography challenges I’ve faced! 🐆🌿

On this Sri Lankan Leopard Day, looking back at this incredible moment feels extra special. Captured in the misty highlands, watching these two interact was an absolute masterclass in patience. The dense fog and constant movement meant every click was a gamble, but seeing Kolla turn around for that split second made every single failed frame worth it.

Sri Lanka’s apex predators are facing more threats than ever, from habitat fragmentation to wire snares. Celebrating them today means committing to their protection tomorrow so future generations can still witness scenes like this in the wild.
