A photo of myself sitting in one of three rooms that's been restored in what is otherwise a ruin.
But what a view!
This Kasbah (Palace/Fortress) was built along the former route of the caravans from the Sahara over the Atlas Mountains to Marrakech. (whoever controlled the routes tend to control the wealth)
I can only imagine how it looked back in the day but I'll post photos of the interior and exterior from exploring it over the next few days so ye get an idea of the scale.
History: It was the seat of the El Glaoui family's power, thus sometimes also called the Palace of Glaoui.
It's construction started in 1860 and it was further expanded in later years.
The palace can still be visited but it is steadily becoming more damaged and is slowly collapsing.
From what I could see about 95% of the place is off limits including the main building in the centre, it really is just falling into ruin.
Anyways, more on that later.
I haven't posted in awhile, I was busy exploring Morocco like mad especially over the past two weeks we've covered so much ground while Ola was over visiting.
As for how things are now in the present moment, I'm currently in Imsouane just waiting for more information to filter through regards new restrictions, lockdowns etc. I'm very tempted to get off the African continent while I can and considering heading to Spain after Paul's visit next week.
The climate regards the C word is constantly changing. Morocco has always been quick to close borders and did so with the France this week to add to a long list that includes Germany, UK etc
I'd love to live in a blissful state of denial but even I have to admit it's starting to get me anxious but I guess there's worse places to get stuck but from a legal standpoint, I have a set amount of days left here otherwise I have to apply for residency and that's paperwork I'd prefer to avoid to be honest.
I'm sure it'll all work out. I'll end up where I'm meant to be,with the people I'm meant to be with.
For now, I get to catch up on some photos and stories, hope ye enjoy ๐
