“A Bow to Tradition – The Stylized Moldovan Folk Costume”
From the stage of time descends a graceful silhouette, adorned in a costume that embodies the very soul of a culture. This ensemble is a stylized reinterpretation of the traditional Moldovan folk attire — a bridge between heritage and modernity, between roots and flight.
The deep burgundy corset, as rich and noble as the wines from Moldova’s sun-kissed vineyards, hugs the body with elegance, evoking the celebratory bodices once proudly worn by village maidens. Embroidered floral motifs, stitched as if with threads of fire, whisper tales of love, longing, and the sacred bond to ancestral land.
The short skirt, embellished with stylized flowers and delicate lace, becomes a metaphor for femininity, purity, and the eternal spring that blossoms within every woman. Flowing from the shoulders, two long, wing-like sleeves cascade — a masterful reimagining of the altiță, the richly embroidered sleeve of Moldovan blouses. Adorned with red and black floral patterns on an ivory background, they dance in timeless harmony, echoing the symbols of old.
Crimson bead necklaces at the neckline pay homage to bridal adornments of times past, while the entire ensemble transforms into a moving poem — a story told not with words, but through the grace of movement and the rustle of fabric.
This is more than a garment — it is identity. It is Moldova in bloom, worn close to the heart.
The design was created from Angelinas personal sketch and brought to life by the renowned Moldovan designer Alina Bradu. The Miss Moldova team also contributed to the making of this dress and headdress, pouring their passion, artistry, and national pride into every stitch.
