A lovely feature on "Unapologetic" in The Malta Independent

UNAPOLOGETIC 🩵
Two more sleeps until Unapologetic opens at Villa Rundle Gardens in Victoria.
Today, I’m incredibly happy to see the project featured by GozoToday, who beautifully captured the story behind the exhibition and the people who made it possible.
Unapologetic is a black-and-white photographic project exploring identity, love, visibility, belonging and the different realities that exist behind the labels we so often use.
But at its heart, this project is about people.
Real people. Real stories. The quiet moments, the struggles, the joy, the strength and the freedom to simply be yourself.
I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who trusted me enough to step in front of my camera and share a part of themselves with me.
And a huge thank you to LGBTI+ Gozo for believing in this project and helping bring it to life.
After weeks of photographing, editing, planning and putting everything together, I honestly cannot wait to finally see these photographs out in the world.

A project very close to my heart is finally coming to life.

UNAPOLOGETIC is an outdoor Black & White photography exhibition created together with LGBTI+ Gozo for Gozo Pride 2026.

Through intimate portraits and documentary inspired images, the exhibition explores identity, belonging, courage and the realities behind the people we see.

I’m very grateful to everyone who trusted me to photograph them and to everyone who helped bring this project together 🩵

The voice for Gozitan LGBTI+ community.

Some projects come looking for you. Others begin with a simple decision to show up.

Over the past few weeks, I've learned that two personal projects I poured my heart into have been published in two different magazines. Seeing my photographs in print for the first time is something I never imagined when I picked up my camera and it's a milestone I'm incredibly proud of.

One publication features one of my photographs of WIEĦED, AUSTIN CAMILLERI STUDIO powerful sculpture in Gozo. What began as a personal response to a work of art that sparked conversation across the island became an opportunity to have one of my images published by Temple Malta Magazine

The second publication features photographs I created while documenting the creation of Riccardo Matlakas ' beautiful Art4sea mosaic project in Gozo. That collaboration started with a simple message after seeing a call for a photographer and it grew into an experience I'm truly grateful to have been part of.

Looking back, there's something both projects have in common. Neither was about chasing recognition. They came from curiosity, from saying yes to meaningful opportunities and from wanting to tell stories that deserved to be documented.

These publications remind me that some of the most rewarding opportunities don't always come from the jobs you plan, but from the projects you choose to believe in.

A heartfelt thank you to Austin Camilleri, Riccardo Matlakas, the Art4Sea project and Temple Magazine for being part of this journey. I'm genuinely excited to see where this path leads next.

Here's to many more stories waiting to be told.
