📷 61st National Competition & Exhibition of Photography 2026 – Print Submissions

Prints must be submitted at the Malta Photographic Society, 137 Old Bakery Street, Valletta, on one of the following days:

• Thursday, 17th September: 17:00 – 18:00 hrs
• Thursday, 24th September: 17:00 – 18:00 hrs
• Friday, 25th September: 18:00 – 20:00 hrs
• Saturday, 26th September: 09:00 – 14:00 hrs (by appointment for pen-drive submission)

A celebration of photography, creativity, and artistic excellence, bringing together photographers from across the Maltese Islands to showcase their talent, vision, and passion through the art of photography.

• A 60cm x 40cm Print Award for the 1st Place Winner in each Print Section and will form part of the 2026 Annual Exhibition.

The winning image from our latest Merit Competition in Digital Projected Images, with the theme Reflections, is by Sandra Sammut Alessi, who achieved the highest total score.

As we approach the latter part of this year’s internal competitions, with the upcoming Merit Digital Projected Images, we would like to take this opportunity to thank Paul Ellul from Golden Gate Malta for supporting this year’s initiative.

The Joy of Printing

Found some time to visit the exhibition One Image , Many Images at the Malta Postal Museum & Arts Hub in which members of the Malta Photographic Society , including myself, took part.

Although today we have everything at our fingertips on electronic devices, there is still that special sense of anticipation when seeing how a photograph will look once it is printed.

Continuing on this point, this year the Malta Photographic Society, will be giving awards in both the Print and Digital Projected Image sections, with awards aimed at encouraging more photographers to experience and appreciate the art of printing their work.

I encourage everyone to take part in this year's National Competition and Exhibition of Photography and to have the opportunity to see their photography exhibited and enjoyed beyond the digital screen.
