Upmix estéreo a surround, hecho correctamente
La mayoría de los plugins upmixer fueron diseñados para broadcast y postproducción — convirtiendo contenido estéreo heredado en surround para TV, streaming y cine. Típicamente funcionan extrayendo el canal central fantasma y difundiendo la señal ambiental restante a los altavoces traseros.
Este enfoque falla con la música. Las mezclas de música estéreo son densas, en capas y dinámicas. La simple extracción de canales crea el problema del "big mono" — donde todo parece provenir del frente, con colas de reverberación vagas en los surrounds. No inmersivo. Solo más ancho.
