Feminism taught me not to fear the fire đ„
That itâs okay to burn to the ground what doesnât serve us.
Oppression thrives on narratives of separation, division, fear.
When I woke up to my own power, value, and strength⊠to the social constructs that created the dominating narratives and beliefs that told me otherwise⊠and dismantled all that made no sense to me⊠I could remember that we are one.
I could learn about intersectionality and understand that all oppressive systems are interlinked and want the same thing: to convince us we are powerless. To convince us that history repeats itself as if there is no other way- so that a few can exercise abusive domination over our shared resources.
Feminism led me to rejoice in my full spectrum of existence. And in that, it taught me about unity.
It taught me that not only do I not lose anything when I uplift and empower others- there is space for us all to thrive. In fact, it is necessary. It taught me about the ancient wisdom of sisterhood, brotherhood, and community.
It taught me that when I take up space as my full, authentic self and allow myself to be seen, I give permission to others to shine their light too.
It taught me to honor my inner witch, warrior, fairy, child, jungle girl, goddess, muse, Barbie, goofball, hippieâmy inner rhythm and duality. It taught me of my cyclical body, of my essence, my sexuality, my passion, and my heart.
It taught me that with freedom and choice comes responsibility (= the ability to respond), and what it means to use my privilege and voice in service of the greater good. To see beyond victim mindsets and binary narratives. To recognize that the oppressor is also oppressed by their own oppression.
This, to me, is feminism.
So today I march, grateful for the ability to speak up for the freedom, dignity, and equal rights of all people oppressed for their gender, sexual preference, skin color, ethnicity, origins, physical abilities, and beyond.
And of course, for the honoring, preservation, and love of Mother Natureâour homeâwithout which we wouldnât be here to experience this marvel we call life.
Letâs BURN THE SH*T and fertilize the soil for a new earth â€ïžâđ„
