OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF PJ HALF MARATHON 2026
PETALING JAYA, 12 August 2026: The iconic PJ Half Marathon returns for its 36th edition, receiving an enthusiastic response from the local and international running community.
This year’s edition features five (5) main categories: 30km Open, 21km Open, 10km Open, 5km Fun Run, and 1km Costume-Themed Fun Run.
Registration is still open, and the organisers are expecting approximately 9,000 participants to take part. To date, 8,000 participants have confirmed their participation, including more than 260 runners from 34 countries, further strengthening the PJ Half Marathon’s position as one of Malaysia’s prestigious half-marathon events.
To ensure the smooth running of the event, the Petaling Jaya District Police will implement traffic control measures in stages starting from 3:30 a.m., involving 100 traffic police officers and 80 MBPJ enforcement officers. Participants are advised to use parking areas around PJ State and avoid parking along road shoulders to help reduce traffic congestion.
The PJ Half Marathon 2026 is organised by Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) and Puncak Ventures SRA Sdn Bhd, in collaboration with the Selangor Para Athletics Association (POPS), with support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
This year’s edition also sees an increase in the number of sponsors, including private-sector organisations such as 100PLUS isotonic drinks and Ice Mountain mineral water from F&N Beverages Marketing Sdn Bhd, sportswear brand Vrtic, nutrition provider N8, sports brand 361°, performance apparel brand RULe, sports taping provider ATF Sport Taping, as well as pacer team sponsorship from Pacemakers Malaysia. Other sponsors include Mamee, 361 Degrees, and Kao Malaysia.
To further enhance participant safety, the organisers have also increased the number of medical personnel deployed throughout the event. This includes motorcycle medical teams patrolling the race route as well as first aiders stationed at the event venue, ensuring a rapid response to any emergencies involving PJ Half Marathon participants.
