Volunteers bring aid to Kampung Orang Asli Sg Poh in Pelangai in Bentong, Pahang coincided with on-going fasting month of Ramadhan, Vaisakhi and Tamil New Year.

The trip was made possible by volunteers from Pelangai 4 Pelangai NGO as well as Project Red Dot Global and SikhInside which collected the goods delivered.

Nishan Sahib Salami ☬

The Nishan Sahib is a Sikh triangular flag made of cotton or silk cloth, with a tassel at its end. The word, Nishan Sahib means exalted ensign, and the flag is hoisted on a tall flagpole, outside most Gurdwaras. The flagpole itself, covered with fabric, ends with a Arrow on top. The emblem on the flag is known as Khanda, which depicts a double-edged sword called a khanda (Miri te Piri) (☬) in the centre, a chakkar which is circular, and flanked by two single-edged swords, or kirpans.

In the late 1920’s, there was a large community of Sikhs residing in Tanah Rata. Some of them were contractors while others were employed as general workers in the various construction projects in Cameron Highlands. Some of these Sikhs were drivers, woodcutters, vegetable farmers or worked in the tea estate. The present Gurdwara Sahib land is nearly two acres in size. It has been gazetted as a Temple (Gurdwara) Reserve vide State of Pahang Government Gazette No. 1067 dated 19th August 1992.
