Petronas Twin Towers and Genting Highlands in a single frame. Photographed from Puncak Jalil, about 16km from KLCC and 47km from Genting Highlands.

I really enjoy photographing Kuala Lumpur from a distance. When I am in Kuala Lumpur, it's pretty hectic. Sounds of cars, trains, buses, and bikes. People everywhere, especially during the weekends. It is quite the sensory overload. And then when I see it from far away where it feels quiet, it has this interesting effect of serenity. This is why I often photograph these types scenes. I mean the shots can come out great, but I also do it to just relax and unwind.

If you feel like you have seen this before, you are right. I shared a horizontal video of this same shot before, but at a much wider view where you can see Merdeka 118, KL Tower and TRX Exchange 106 as well. Some of you mentioned you could not see Genting Highlands, so here is the cropped version where you can see it clearly.

Happy Chinese New Year! Gong Xi Fa Cai!

This year, I shot the amazing fireworks show at Thean Hou Temple from the exact same spot as last year, but with 1 key difference. This was entirely shot with a phone. And I shot this from almost 1km away. Pretty cool right?

This year there were some additional elements to the show. There was even a flying dragon and I think also a phoenix (I think?).

Shot with vivo X300 Pro with a combination 3.5x zoom and with the vivo ZEISS 2.35x Telephoto Extender Kit which gives about 8x zoom or close to 200mm fullframe equivalent.

The oldest and the youngest of the Kuala Lumpur Big 4 with Genting Highlands "floating" over them.

Finally! I got the shot I have been chasing since 31st December 2025! You may have seen my previous shot of Genting Highlands between Petronas Twin Towers and Merdeka 118, but I always felt like it wasn't balanced. I wanted a more centered composition. Been trying to get this for some time now but the weather just never allowed for it.

In this shot I got KL Tower and Merderka 118 in the center and the "floating city" hovering over them.

I shot this from Cyberjaya which is about 25KM away from Kuala Lumpur and 57KM away from Genting Highlands.

Images from yesterday's Thaipusam celebration in Batu Caves.

Everytime I am at Batu Caves among the crowd photographing Malaysian Hindus exercising their religious obligations, I ask myself a few questions. What is my motivation here? Is my need to get "good shots" more important than respecting people who are here for religious purpose? How close can I get before it is invading someone personal space? Is that shot appropriate to share or is it too private?

I hope I answered my questions right and manage to show Thaipusam for what it is, and not show it as something "exotic" or make a caricature of people.

My aim is always to show the determination people have in fulfilling their vows, and to capture the overall atmosphere.
