Happy 63rd Independence Day! 🇲🇾

This year has been a very strange year. It is also the year we all come together and play our parts in combating the spread of the pandemic by staying at home.

I was deeply moved by my neighbours staying up and singing the national anthem on the eve of independence day. I decided to pick up my gear and head to a rooftop just before midnight.

P.s. I shot this at my workplace(hospital) on my offday and my colleagues caught me in action and called me a workaholic. 😂

Deck of Illumination (Singapore MMXIX No.11)

Shot this about a year ago. Who would have thought a year later, the world would be so different. Once cities filled with people on the streets, now deserts without sand.

I always enjoyed people watching. Capturing strangers in frame and I'd come up with a story or narration for the scene. Telling strange tales through these lenses.

Path of Intent(Singapore MMXIX No.9)

2019 came to an end. 2020 is the start of a new decade. This year will be a year of choices and intentions. I will be making difficult choices and constantly be questioning my intentions in every aspect of the things I do. I will be shooting more photos with intent and taking lesser snapshots. End of last year, I have upgraded my camera from Sony a6000 to Sony a7r3. From a 24MP sensor camera to a 42.4MP sensor camera. My SD cards are filling up faster than before! Storage space is becoming scarce. I have to be more selective.
Perhaps the same can be applied to life. Time very much like film or storage space, is limited. We have to choose what to keep and what to discard in order to make room for more meaningful experiences. Everything we do have to be done with intent.

Red (Singapore MMXIX No.6)

The tall structure depicted here is known as the Pinnacle@Duxton.
It is a 50-storey residential development made up of 7 buildings which features the world's two longest sky gardens of 500 metres each, on the 26th and 50th floors.

Verdant Turf (Singapore MMXIX No.5)
The School of Art, Design & Media at Nanyang Technological University campus, Singapore. This stunning piece of award-winning architecture is situated in a wooded valley.

The embracing arms of this unique building have a spectacular verdant turfed roof which blends with ground contour as if emerges from it.

P.s. I wouldn't mind going to school everyday if this was my uni. 😆

Hive (Singapore MMXIX No.4)
The Hive, also known as the Learning Hub, is a building located in Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. The building was designed by Thomas Heatherwick and completed in 2015. Colloquially, the building is known as the "dim sum basket building" due to its likeness to the steamer baskets used to serve dim sum. @ The Hive Singapore

Every Teardrop is a ......... (Singapore MMXIX No.2)

HSBC Rain Vortex at Jewel Changi Airport designed by architect Moshe Safdie.

This was taken on Good Friday in April. It was a public holiday and also my last day in Singapore. Everyone was eager to see the trendy and iconic waterfall. It was something new and everyone's been talking about it. I was advised by a dear friend to visit it before the holidays but my schedule just wouldn't allow it. In retrospect, I am glad things turned out the way it did. This would probably be the only time in history that you'd see such a huge crowd at Jewel. I will visit Jewel again sometime in the future and it will be a different experience all over again.

Jewel Changi Airport is a neofuturistic structure of steel and glass designed by architect Moshe Safdie(the same guy who designed the Marina Bay Sands).

This also marks the beginning of the Singapore 2019 a.k.a the Singapore MMXIX series. More street and architecture shots coming up, shot in the span of 5 days sometime in April. Stay tuned.
