As Chinese New Year wraps up, I wanted to share some moments from WeBest’s celebration that really captured what this season is all about. The celebration happened just before CNY at their 29 Reserve Show Gallery, which also served as the venue for unveiling their new Type B9 showroom.

What really stood out from the start was the art exhibition lining the walkway to the show unit. Local artists had their ink paintings and calligraphy on display, including work by Everlyn Tai. I’ve admired her pieces for a while, and her featured oil painting of a brown horse with forelegs raised, head turned back, full of energy and movement, was perfect for the Year of the Horse. The other artists contributed beautiful works too, with spring motifs and elegant florals that captured the season’s spirit. It was refreshing to see art and property events blend together so well.

Things kicked off with official speeches and a cheque presentation to SMJK Tinggi Cina Melaka, followed by the director LyDia and VVIPs hitting the drums to open the celebration. Right after, the Pay Fong Middle School’s 24 Festive Drums team jumped in with their performance and the energy was incredible.

Once the opening wrapped up, Chinese music filled the space as guests mingled over refreshments. A vocalist, pianist, and pipa/erhu player kept the atmosphere lively. Ms. Pek, a talented calligrapher was also at her booth writing auspicious words like 喜樂, 家, 和順, 福 etc. in beautiful gold ink on red paper for guests to take home. It was fascinating watching her work.

Beyond the performances, the show gallery was also beautifully decorated for the occasion, with CNY installations like goldfish displays bringing the festive atmosphere to life, complementing the spring-themed art exhibition along the walkway. Guests could wander around enjoying the games set up throughout, or take their time touring the new showroom.

Thanks to LyDia for continuing to trust me with these moments, from her family gatherings and portraits to her company events now. And to her team for all the coordination and support. I remember LyDia was worried about the weather in the days leading up, with all the drizzling and gloomy skies. But the day itself turned out sunny. A good sign for the year ahead!

Right before the 2026 new year, GJH Group wrapped up renovating their office floor for the builders team, and I got to shoot the opening. I’ve been working with them for a few years now, and they’re always great to work with. Good to be back for another milestone.

The new space has this industrial modern thing going on. Exposed concrete, wooden floors and furniture, everything open and airy. Ms. Mayu, a Japanese interior designer, led the project and was there for the opening. Her thoughtful approach really shows in how everything flows together. What got me about the design is how open it all is. Even the senior team’s rooms have almost full glass walls looking out to where everyone works. Says something about the trust and openness in how they run things.

The opening started with a prayer and firecrackers, then the team director, Mr. Lim rolled a pineapple into the office, that gesture symbolising good fortune and a prosperous beginning. After that came breakfast and lunch for everyone. The team prepared a generous breakfast spread with lots of variety, all locally sourced. The Malay cuisine luncheon followed right after to keep everyone satisfied. Guests walked around checking out the space, and the team was there to welcome everyone. A good celebration for a new chapter.

A big thank you to Mr. Yeow, who leads GJH Group, for continuing to trust me with documenting these moments over the years. Also a first for both of us: he gave me the very first Horse angpow with their own design. First one he gave out, first one I received.

Small note to Ms. Tan as well, thank you for always coordinating and making everything smooth.

Christine & Bryan came from Singapore to capture a special moment before their wedding this month. Christine has always loved Peranakan culture and dreamed of wearing Kebaya, and Melaka was the perfect place to make that happen with its with its unique Peranakan charm.

We started the session in the afternoon and the sun was shining bright and strong. It was hot but the kind of heat that makes us feel alive. I took them through a few spots around the heritage area, nothing too planned just places that felt right in the moment.

We moved at a relaxed pace, letting the day unfold naturally. Between shots there were small moments, a shared smile, a quiet laugh, a little rest in the shade. Christine & Bryan felt comfortable and easy with each other, like they were simply enjoying being together. The connection between them was clear and effortless.

This session was about more than just taking pictures of Peranakan outfit in Melaka. It captured the love they share and celebrated the start of their new life together. I wish Christine & Bryan all the joy and happiness as they begin this beautiful journey.

Almost 10 years ago I photographed Sue & Dave’s engagement portrait and wedding in both Melaka and KL, and now I had the chance to visit them again in their beautiful new home in Melaka. They’ve traded the busy city life for a slower, more peaceful rhythm that suits them perfectly. We spent a relaxed morning together just hanging out and capturing moments in their cozy, creative space filled with plants, music, books, and plenty of love.

Their five cats, Fuhra (Dave’s fav), Luci, Hari, Hanna and Bear brought so much life to the shoot, each with their own unique personality: some friendly and curious, others a little shy or grumpy. One even scratched Tom’s eye during the session, adding a bit of unexpected drame to the day. It was such a genuine glimpse into their everyday life, full of warmth, creativity, and honest moments. I’m truly grateful to have clients like Sue & Dave who become lifelong friends and let me be part of their journey again and again.

Spent a beautiful evening in Tanjung Emas Park with Nicole & Isaac, and their little girl Eleanor, visiting from Australia. The weather was perfect and Muar, Tom’s hometown, felt especially peaceful through their presence. It was a lovely surprise to find out we went to the same university back in Australia, just a few years apart. Wishing them quiet joy in the days ahead and hoping these small moments together stay with them wherever life leads.

Some days just feel nice and easy, and this was definitely one of them. EeTeen and Ted came up to Melaka for their engagement shoot, spending a slow and simple day together before their big celebration a few months later.

Ted is originally from Melaka but now lives in KL with EeTeen, who’s also from there. It was really sweet that they chose to come back to Ted’s hometown for this session. The whole day felt calm and familiar, like a quiet little pause before the next chapter.

It was also a bit special for me too. I had photographed their ROM in Putrajaya last year, so seeing them again felt a bit like catching up with old friends. There’s a quiet kind of trust that comes from being part of someone’s story before, and it made this shoot feel even more relaxed.

We started the day out in nature, surrounded by greenery. EeTeen wore a beautiful gown and Ted looked sharp in a formal coat. At one point, a black dog wandered over and decided to stick around for most of the shoot. It was totally unplanned but honestly felt like it belonged in the story.

Later on, we headed into the old streets for the second part of the shoot. We kicked it off at a small café on Jalan Bunga Raya. EeTeen and Ted had changed into casual outfits, and we hung out there for a bit, snapped a few photos, and just took it easy. After that, we wandered around the streets and alleys, took more shots as we walked, and just went with the flow.

The weather played along too. Most of the day stayed cloudy, which gave everything a soft and calm feel. In the morning, during the gown shoot out in nature, the sun came out just for a short while, just enough to catch a few warm golden frames before it slipped back behind the clouds.

EeTeen and Ted are such a lovely pair. Ted is a big Back to the Future fan. I could see his Back to the Future t-shirt under his denim vest. EeTeen is more of an E.T. fan, partly because her name sounds like it. They both love their classic movies and just have a really easy natural vibe together.

Spending time with them was a real joy. Wishing EeTeen and Ted all the best as they start this new chapter together. Here’s to lots of love, laughter, and great memories ahead.

The wedding in Melaka was a beautiful celebration of Marissa & William, filled with warmth, laughter, and special moments. Each moment, from the traditions to the simple touches, felt personal and true to them as a couple.
Marissa & William are based in Australia, but their love story began in Melbourne, where they first met. William grew up in Sydney, while Marissa’s roots are in Melaka, with a rich Peranakan heritage on her mother’s side. The two of them are the kind of couple who make you feel instantly at ease — warm, kind, and always smiling. Earlier in the year, they had a simple wedding back home in Australia, and this Melaka celebration was a chance to gather with Marissa’s family and share in something a little more traditional.
We started the afternoon with portraits along Heeren Street — a quiet stretch of old shophouses with soft light and lovely textures. Marissa wore a stunning red Qun Kua, a traditional Chinese gown that’s been in her family for over 100 years, lovingly passed down from her great-grandmother. The golden dragon embroidery, front and back, shimmered gently as she walked. William was dressed in a matching Chinese Tang suit, and together, they looked beautifully timeless against the charm of the street.
The tea ceremony was held just before dinner, inside Peranakan Mansion, the same venue where the reception would take place later that evening. With family gathered close, Marissa & William served tea, shared laughs, and exchanged warm words with their elders. The atmosphere was relaxed and full of affection — a mix of tradition and light-hearted joy that suited them perfectly.
As the sun dipped lower, guests began arriving for dinner. Many of the ladies wore colorful Kebayas, adding to the festive feel of the evening. Marissa changed into a modern red dinner dress, and William into a classic suit. It was a seamless transition from tradition to celebration.
Dinner at Peranakan Mansion was a true highlight. The venue, known for its authentic Peranakan cuisine, was warm and inviting, the perfect backdrop for a night of good food and even better company. Marissa’s cousins, Deborah & Robert, took the mic as emcees, keeping the energy light and playful throughout the evening.
The speeches were another beautiful part of the night. Marissa and William’s parents, William’s sister, and the couple themselves all shared heartfelt words. There were happy tears, big laughs, and many moments that felt genuine and full of love. It was clear how deeply they are cherished by everyone in the room.
Before I packed up for the night, William invited me to stay for a drink. It was such a thoughtful gesture — a reminder of just how kind and generous these two are.
Marissa & William’s wedding was a perfect mix of tradition, joy, and warmth. It wasn’t about big displays or flashy moments, but rather about celebrating the people they love and the life they’ve built together. I feel so lucky to have been there to capture such a special day.
Congratulations again, Marissa & William. Thank you for letting me be part of your beautiful celebration.

It’s always a joy when couples return for another photoshoot. May & Kok Khien first joined me for a photoshoot four years ago, and since then, their love has only deepened and blossomed. Now with a daughter, Jovie, they’ve come back to capture new memories, and May had a special request: the couple portrait in her wedding gown, something she missed in our previous session.
We started the day in Tangkak, with the stunning Gunung Ledang in the background. The morning was quite windy, and the breeze made May’s wedding gown dance beautifully in the air. The mountain added a sense of adventure to the shoot, perfectly capturing the journey May & Kok Khien have shared. The natural beauty of the landscape created a calm, intimate vibe, and we were able to capture their love in these simple, beautiful moments.
Afterward, we headed to Melaka, where the weather turned sunny, and the warm evening sun lit up the transitional land in golden light. The wind still blew gently, moving the soft lalang grass across the wide open space. Surrounded by nature, May & Kok Khien looked calm and at ease in this peaceful setting. The sunset touched their faces as they stood in the grass, their love and joy shining in the soft light.
From the mountains to the grasslands, Melaka-Johor-Melaka, the session captured not just who May and Kok Khien are now, but also their journey together. These portraits are more than just pictures; they are a reminder of a love that has lasted and grown stronger. With their daughter in their hearts, this shoot marks another beautiful chapter in their story.
Here’s to love that endures and the moments we treasure along the way.

Weddings are all about love, connection, and celebration — and sometimes, the best ones are the simplest. I had the privilege of capturing the wedding of Chris, a Malaysian Chinese groom, and Dasom, his Korean bride, in the Kuala Lumpur. Their special day was a beautiful mix of cultures, meaningful moments, and, most importantly, love.
Dasom and Chris met in KL during the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite the challenging times, they found each other, and their bond only grew stronger. It had been a while since I shot a small, intimate wedding, and this one reminded me just how special those quieter celebrations can be.
On their wedding day, Dasom and Chris kept things simple. There was no following of traditional customs like gate-crashing or complex rituals. Instead, they did the celebration at Chris’s family home, surrounded by close family members and friends, including Dasom’s parents and brother, who traveled all the way from Korea to share in their joy. It was a small but incredibly special gathering, full of love and warmth.
One beautiful part of the day was Dasom’s experience with the Chinese wedding tradition, including the tea ceremony — something she hadn’t encountered before, as it’s not part of traditional Korean weddings. It was a meaningful moment, allowing her to honor Chris’s heritage through this lovely cultural practice.
They celebrated their wedding with a cozy dinner at a Chinese banquet restaurant. The atmosphere was intimate and nostalgic, with delicious food that captured the essence of traditional Chinese cuisine, bringing together the flavors of both Dasom & Chris’s cultures.
For their dinner reception, Dasom wore two stunning outfits that beautifully blended both her and her groom’s cultures. She first donned a traditional Korean gown known as a hanbok, followed by a gorgeous Chinese Qun Kua. Chris on the other hand wore a elegant coat, followed by a Chinese traditional wedding outfit to match Dasom’s attire. Their outfits created a stunning visual of cultural harmony, perfectly reflecting the unity of their love.
One of the most heartwarming moments of the evening came when Chris wanted to give a speech in Korean. He had been learning the language to honor Dasom’s culture, but despite his best efforts, he couldn’t quite manage it. Instead, he gave his speech in English, sharing his heartfelt words with everyone in the room. His genuine effort to learn Korean and his promise to continue improving left everyone touched and reminded us all of how love is about growth and understanding.
In the end, it was a simple, beautiful wedding that proved how meaningful the quiet moments can be. Dasom and Chris’s day celebrated love in its purest form — no extravagance, just two people coming together, surrounded by the people who matter most, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
