In this miniseries I am showcasing people and places I have been to that shaped my career.

I first crossed paths with Rach back in 2018 in Koh Tao. We didn’t really connect properly until the world slowed down during the pandemic, when I found myself spending real time at Ritual Dive , her centre in Gozo (Malta).

What I love about Rach’s story is how deliberate it was. She studied Pharmacology in Manchester, found diving during a trip to Koh Tao, and just... pivoted. Moved to Thailand in 2015, became an instructor, worked her way up to Head Instructor at one of the busiest centres on the island, then hit Instructor Trainer level in 2018. While doing all of that full-time, she completed an MBA because she already knew she wanted to open her own place one day.

She picked SSI for the flexibility, the philosophy of teaching at the student’s pace rather than pushing everyone through the same mold. That approach stuck with her all the way through to IT level, and you feel it in how she runs Ritual Dive.

For me personally, that time in Malta was a turning point. I got to dive with Rach on the Mares Horizon SCR, course taught by the incredible Cat .braun (which I may or may not have killed in training… a lesson I haven’t forgot 😅🙈).

But Ritual Dive was a little more than that.

That’s where my underwater photography stopped being a hobby and started becoming something real. Ritual Dive, the people I met through SSI there, the dives we did together, it all added up to something I didn’t expect.

Rach built something genuinely special. If you’re heading to Gozo, go dive with her.

As an SSI ambassador I have the opportunity to showcase places. But diving trips are nothing without the people you do them with. I also want to bring you as a part of this journey. ☺️

This month we start with Türkiye and the

I can’t even describe to you how amazing the diving is. Perfect, untouched wrecks. The remains of one of the biggest naval battles of the century.

But what makes a great dive is the team. I want to introduce you to Murathan Yildiz ( ). He co-founded the center in 2023.

He has over 25 years in the water. He is an SSI CCR Extended Range Trimix Instructor and teaches on JJ rebreathers.

He is also a massive creative. He is a certified DaVinci Resolve instructor and he even teaches underwater filmmaking at Istanbul University.

He uses all these skills to do photogrammetry on the deep WW1 wrecks of the Dardanelles. He helps preserve history while working with the government on technical diving regulations.

This trip was also the perfect occasion to spend time with a great crew.

was my dive buddy during this entire trip. What an amazing buddy. He is a dedicated technical cave and mine explorer with insane buoyancy skills.

brought his serious tech and cave diving experience to our team. Even though he wasn’t originally supposed to dive with us, Kjento, Flo, and I made an incredible trio. I named us the Thunder Team.

It was also a chance to finally meet people you hear about but never see in person. We had known for his UK mine photography with she is an amazing wreck explorer with a world of knowledge , a Nat Geo Photographer published for his extreme depth work. We also had .sokar who has supported massive scuba records.

There are so many cool and amazing people in this industry. ❤️
