Wings of Taiping: The tiny but mighty Black-thighed Falconet

One of the smallest birds of prey in Southeast Asia, often seen quietly perched before making sudden aerial strikes for insects and small prey. Small in size, but every bit a skilled hunter.

Not my best shots of the Eurasian Hoopoe, as this bird was quite shy and sensitive to movement. I was late on the first day and missed the closer opportunities shared by fellow birders. Came back a second time, but with too much noise around, it hardly came down to the ground. Still grateful for the encounter

Both parents take turns excavating the nest, feeding the chicks, and removing f***l sacs to keep the cavity clean and scent-free from predators.
