Lovely to see my image of a Barnacle Gosling in online today! 💚

I’ve been spending quite a lot of time observing ducks and geese this spring…

I can’t believe I’ve missed so much in previous years - often overlooking them for more “exotic” animals, discarding those closer to home.

The little goslings have been entertaining to watch but they also slightly break my heart because they are so small and struggle to leap out of the water, trying to follow their parents who easily exit the water! 🤦🏻‍♀️😅

Currently obsessed with all the floofy babies at the local duck pond… this is a Canadian Geese gosling, looking all cute and cuddly!!

They stick really close to their parents but enjoy foraging in the grass, which is really close to the main road, which keeps making me super anxious 😬 but the parents know what they’re doing!!!

Have you seen many little floofy babies this year??!! 💚

😍😍😍 How cute are these little guys?! Who knew that Canadian Geese started off life so cute and floofy!! 😊

Taken at Bushy Park, London - these goslings are less than a week old! They’re learning from their parents quickly and before long will turn into the big old chatty adults that we know and love!!! They are of course in the danger zone until they get a big bigger, from predation of other birds as well as foxes, so the adults have to ensure all goslings stay close by.

There’s probably going to be a large amount of Puffin spam coming this way, after a fabulous trip over to Inner Farne on 💚

The Puffins were still very much building their nests when I visited, collecting twigs and leaves to take back into their burrows under ground. I imagine that some eggs may have been laid now and before long there will be some little pufflings!!! YES… Pufflings!! How cute is that?!

The last of the bluebells! What another stunning display up and down the country of a flower that has become synonymous with Spring and new beginnings!

It’s raining! ☔️

It’s an indoor editing kinda day… in preparation for something exciting next week!

Quick clue, something that’s celebrated once a year on the same day and with each passing year, it becomes even more of a privilege! 😊

This little Gentoo penguin in Antarctica was having a little snooze in the falling snow ❄️ sums up how I feel today! 🤪

It’s World Migratory Day and what better example than that of our colourful clowns of the sea, the Puffin!!

They have all pretty much returned to the UK now to start their courtship once again, collecting nest material and getting ready for the arrival of a very special little egg!

Once they have grown their family, they will once again head off back to sea, leaving by the end of July. They do a lot better at sea than on land and if you’ve seen a puffin up close, you will know what I mean by their rather grumpy awkward walks!

The U.K. sees a lot of birds migrating to and from throughout the year and we are such an important destination for so many, which is why we must protect our seabirds and other migratory birds as best we can!!

There’s a resident Kingfisher that has her favourite patch and every day she will do the same loop, according to the times of the tides…

this is a completely wild kingfisher hovering whilst hunting for fish in our local harbour!!

You can easily tell kingfishers apart by their beaks… females have red on the lower beak, whereas males will have all black beaks.

I have been waiting for soooooo long to get a half decent photo of her - this image was taken using the Canon R5II and RF 600mm F4 and the heavily cropped.

The thing is, I love the fact that this is a truly *wild* image - no baiting, no guarantees, just hard work of going back to the same location time and time again to learn behaviour, understand what conditions and tides she prefers and then hoping that eventually, everything falls into place (including light direction!)

Super happy with these images and what they stand for!!
