Ceci n'est pas une girafe - This is not a giraffe.
It is, in fact, the photo of a 2,000 year old rock painting of a giraffe. It was drawn by an unknown artist onto a rock somewhere at the Brandberg mountain in Namibia. It took the artist perceptivity, technical skill, and creativity to make this lasting mark, a testament to the life of people long gone.

2,000 years from now, will anyone look at the myriads of artificially generated graphics? Will these AI generated images make anyone feel a connection?

Make and share real art!

Dear team at Athletics Namibia,

I congratulate you all and especially your athletes Christine Mboma and Beatrice Masilingi as well as their coach, Henk Botha, for the great performances at the Tokyo Olympics!

It is no exaggeration to say that you have, under challenging circumstances, shown a brilliant performance and given the Namibian nation a sense of unity, pride, and joy in difficult times.

I am a commercial photographer based in Windhoek, and as a token of appreciation I would like to offer a complimentary photo session to the two olympic athletes and their coach valued at N$ 5,000. I strongly believe having striking image material will be of help to them on the road ahead, and I would be more than happy to assist with that.

Feel free to reach me at +264 81 3216300 or by email to [email protected]

Best regards and congratulations,
Christian

I haven't been shooting many weddings lately - firstly, because I have transitioned to being more and more of a commercial and corporate photographer, and then of course there's COVID.

Last Saturday I had the opportunity again after a while, and what a treat it was! Kerstin and Lennart were blessed with a beautiful green scenery and abundant rain in the evening. The weather was perfect for some moody outdoor photos, even more so as the two of them love nature. Here are a few sneak peeks!

IT'S PHOTO DAY!

Virtually everyone has a camera in their pocket these days, but there is no substitute for a professional portrait that you can hang proudly in your home.

Our Grade 8 and 9 students had their photos taken today. Class photos were skipped and made way for individual ones, masked and unmasked.

Thank you to Christian Stiebahl Photography and Photonamix for capturing these priceless memories.

Organising a conference in the times of COVID-19 is not an easy endeavour. Big halls full of people in close proximity of each other are a no-go. However, I'd like to show you that even under very strict regulations it is still possible to host a successful conference.

These are photos I took for Oxygen Communications at the Namibia Agricultural Conference which recently took place in Windhoek. Venue was Safari Court Hotel and Conference Centre with its very flexible setup - the fact that they can divide their huge banquet hall into several smaller venues was priceless. This guaranteed that it was possible to have smaller rooms with 10 participants each, adhering to the government regulations.

To make sure that everybody in these separate rooms could follow the proceedings, the great team at dB Audio had set up cameras, screens, and microphones in every room, so that everybody was part of the same conference, even if physically apart.

Even those who could not find space in the conference venue were catered for, by means of an online live stream. Viewers could also interact, ask questions, etc.

I think this shows that the adverse conditions we are facing are a challenge - but not an insurmountable one. It just takes a good team and some innovation to move mountains!

Last week I took images of the range of oils by Pure Marula by Taneta, and I was lucky to get a bottle of the Marula Skin Oil as a gift. I've been using it since, and it's doing wonders for dry winter skin!

The oils are all 100% pure and cold-pressed, great local Namibian products. Give them a try if you're looking for natural products for your hair and skin.
