So why do we actually care so much? Because we are perfectionists who have a burning desire to tell authentic Nigerian stories. Ones that we want the rest of the world to receive. Forget the old Nigerian way of thinking, being selfish and going through life aspiring only to be rich and just to die with no legacy. Having your name wash away like waves in ocean vanish out of existence. We don't want that. We have a purpose, and that is to spread the African message around the world. Our purpose is greater than us, our purpose is not just about legacy but about telling stories that enable the future generations to be great. Forget about us, we do this for the future.
We have to respect Nollywood, because it was built from the ground up, and look at it now! But in truth, it's just not good enough. We can do better. We will do better! And that starts with opening ones self up to the craft of filmmaking, which so many in Nigeria overlook. We all loved Black Panther, but why do we have to wait for western companies like Disney and Marvel to tell our stories? Think about how much better, how much more authentic our stories would be if we told them ourselves? The worlds is starved of African culture, and it's our turn to conquer.
