My Earlier Thought!

This was my experience"
I used to be under the impression that a person’s size was a true sign of their health; I genuinely believed that the plumper a person was, the healthier they must be. However, I soon realized that this logic couldn't be further from the truth.

I recently visited the Accident and Emergency department at a major Nigerian teaching hospital, a place where the atmosphere is heavy with worry. The wards were filled with patients in various states: some were fighting for their lives in resuscitation, while others were waiting for basic first aid. Being quite slim and slight of build, I had always worried that I was the one who looked the most fragile and unwell in any room.

That perspective changed in an instant when a large man was rushed right next to me. He was clearly in immense pain and was so far gone that he wasn't even aware of his surroundings. The doctors and nurses swarmed his bed, working tirelessly to help him regain consciousness. Watching him struggle made me stop and thank God for my own wellbeing, despite my small frame.

His family were in floods of tears, looking utterly heartbroken and helpless as they watched him suffer. It was a sobering reminder that our health is a precious gift that we often overlook until it is at risk. Oh Allah, please grant us all good health. Truly, you only need to visit a hospital once to realise just how kind God has been to you.
