šŸŽ™ļø Story Title: The Man Who Bought Her Silence

I was there the day she smiled and thanked him for the ₦5 million birthday gift.
The other women at the table screamed with joy, some in envy, others in admiration.
"Na man you be, Emeka!" they chorused, clapping and toasting him with glasses of wine.
But I saw something else in her eyes.

Peace.
Not joy.
Just... peace.

That was the first sign something wasn’t right.

Emeka and I had been friends since university.
Smart, calm, calculated. A man who never made decisions from his heart.
He was the type who would rather lose a woman than lose control.

So when he started dating Onyinye, we were all shocked. She was soft, spiritual, and kind—nothing like the loud, flashy babes he used to run with.

But there was a secret they were both hiding.
And it almost destroyed them.

It started with a mistake…

One night, while Onyinye was away visiting her mother in Imo State, Emeka hosted a private party.
Drinks. Friends. Business partners.
And someone else… Onyinye’s younger sister, Uju.

The rest is a blur to him—so he says.
But Uju didn’t forget.

She showed up to Onyinye’s apartment crying two weeks later, holding a pregnancy test.
"Your boyfriend got me pregnant," she whispered.

Onyinye didn’t scream.
She didn’t even cry that day.
She just sat down, quiet… her eyes blank.

She sent Uju away. Blocked her number. Told no one.

Not even Emeka knew she knew.

Her silence bought her power.
She waited.
She watched.
She calculated.

And on her next birthday, she gave Emeka a tight hug and whispered,
"I know what you did. And I forgive you. But I’ll never forget."

That day, he gave her ₦5 million.
He bought her silence.

But silence doesn’t mean peace.
She started withdrawing.
Stopped praying.
Laughed less.
Smiled more—for the cameras.

And Emeka, thinking money fixed it all, continued pouring gifts, trips, and luxury into a broken heart.

Until the day she left.
She packed her things, wrote him a letter, and disappeared

One of America's darkest crime story ever recorded in history.

04/10/2024

General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye has apologized for saying anybody who does not pay tithe will not make heaven.

He tendered the apology on Thursday while ministering at the ongoing youth convention of the church monitored online by Church Times.

Adeboye who tried to inspire the youth to aspire to do more for the Lord took a pause in the course of the message; changed his countenance and said he was sorry for saying those who don’t pay tithe will not make heaven.

He said, ā€œI am sorry for saying that if you don’t pay tithe you won’t go to heaven. That is not in the Bible. What the Bible says is, follow peace with all men and holiness without which no man will make heaven.ā€

THE SHADOW OF RITUALS
(By The Jonah's Bank Of Tales )

In the heart of the mystical village of Akwamu, where the air was sweet with the scent of blooming flowers and the whispers of the ancestors lingered, a young single mother called Ama, raised her two daughters, Akua and Adwoa. Akua, the elder, was gifted with the sight of the ancestors, a trait passed down through generations of women in their family. She could see beyond the veil, into the realm of the unknown. Adwoa, the younger, was blessed with beauty and charm, captivating all men who laid eyes on her.

Adwoa's luck changed when she married a wealthy and influential man, Kofi, who was rumored to have made a pact with the dark forces. His wealth and power were unmatched, but the villagers whispered about the source of his success because it was only few months after Kofi's mother died and he turns a billionaire over night. The elders of the land disagree with her death and consulted the great gods of the land, who then reveal that Kofi was no ordinary man but a man with a mysterious powers that has a high ranking in the darkest side of the world and needs to be abstained from. Warns that the forces he possessed are ancient dark spirits with dark powers, as such the people of Akwamu became afraid of Kofi. Every parent warns their daughters to avoid having anything to do with him. Akua's visions was right just as the gods warns. Akua warns her of Kofi's true nature to avoid him, but her concerns were dismissed and was even accused of being jealous. Akua's warnings became more urgent, when she started getting a constant vision day in day out about Kofi. She feared for the life of her sister. Akwua knew it was a very an important message to her sister was surprised that Adwoa refused to listen, rather was entranced by Kofi's charm and wealth. Even their poor mum told me to her face that " Marriage was a choice" Kofi new all what the elders did, and he applied wisdom by using his evil wealth against them. He ensure sharing money to all the elders and soon the villagers, too, were blinded by Kofi's influence, and they turned a deaf ear to Akua's plea

Their mother, Ama, was invited to visit Adwoa and Kofi in the city, just to spend the weekend and a nice time her daughter's house. Everything went well the first two days in the city, but on the third day, something strange happened. She experienced weird and painful occurrences, hinting at dark magic.as she woke up feeling weak and unusual with body pain. Her entire body hurts alot which was unusual. It's been decades she had such experience. She couldn't unravel the secrets to what actually happened to her, but was quite sure that something was not right with her system. Her private part hurts with a slimming discharge, these signs got her scared, confided in her daughter Adwoa as two matured females adult that can share idea, who knows the feelings of after having s*x or being laid by a man. As a widow who had live alone for 10 years with no man, after her husband died of a strange illness. She can't for get what's like when some one had s*x especially with a forceful pe*******on. After narrating all she felt wakening up from sleep that very day, Adwoa her daughter smiled and told her it could be just an imagination of missing her late dad. Which is her death husband. Or better still just tiredness. As wise woman that was not careless and knows her body, she could tell something was wrong and couldn't let it go slide even when she tried to brush it off as mere imagination as her daughter said, but the signs were unmistakable. Suspecting foul play when she was sleeping. Ama secretly consulted the family doctor Mr Reuben her late husband's close who carried out some tests and did some vital checkup revealed evidence of recent rough in*******se. Ama's couldn't believed her ears, filled with rage in tears. world crumbled, shattered and heart broken. Even the doctor was shocked cause he knew it's been 10 years his friend died. He was filled with lots of questions, wondering if at her age she was flirting. Even though she was still looking beautiful and well kept. She explained everything to Mr Reuben, who felt pity and understands her pains. The both came to the conclusion that Kofi her son inlaw has hand in it. Because she to her time asking her daughter countless of time to know how many people lives in that very house with them aside of the gateman, female cook and house help, who is female just like their cook. On the other hand, it could be all setup with his wife.. She said to her self. Wondering all through the night without sleeping. She couldn't eat or drink which called the attentions of her daughter worried to know what happened but Ama fine. She could remembered vividly that her daughter once told her to get married to another man, few fear after her father died. Advising that Ama needed a man in her life that can make her happy and alive once again. A caring man who can also takes good care of her and when she refused her daughter threatened to bring a man to her life her self. Ama wept bitterly recalling her daughter's words and was convinced that her daughter had a hand to the abominable act that happened to her under her roof by her husband. Her very own inlaw. Ah! My daughter, you have committed the worst mistake ever on earth by allowing your husband to sleep with your own mother, Ama said to her self crying bitterly. knowing fully well it was an abomination against the custom and traditions of their land, and the penalty for such a crime was nothing order than a death sentence for her for the victim. Knowingly or unknowingly was neither an excuse. Ama swiftly left back to the village with out telling her daughter and her husband.
Reaching home, Ama didn't tell Akwua her eldest daughter, but Akwua already knows because had already saw it as a vision when her mum left to the city as such she never bothered cause her mum won't even say or tell her a word. Ama decided keeping such a secret to her self due to the shame. Ama secretly went to the Ikeni's shrine, an old powerful man with ancient wisdom and powers. who was the seer of the land and eyes of the gods. She cried and narrated all that happened to her in the city at Adwoa's house, knowing fully well she was saying the truth. Ikeni did some incantations, break cola-nuts and offered to the gods speaking in a strange ancient tongues of the gods. He told her that the only way out was for her to summon a meeting with the elders of the land and make her confessions to them. The elders of the land had to know, he said. For the stood as a witness through your marriage rites and rituals as such the shall undo same Ikeni told her. The place I shall come in, is a river bath cleancing you shall under go 12 :am in the middle of the night at the Ajara forbidden river. Ikeni warns Ama to hasten up to do all that is required of her to do cause she only have 21 days.
Ama got home that night and couldn't sleep. She was thinking and asking her self lots of questions. How will I start telling? what will people say! She ask. No one will believe I was not on my right senses. Am innocent! She said to her self crying bitterly. It shall never be well with you and your evil husband Adwoa, she said.

After three days of not making her confessions, strange things begans to happen in the land. And while this was on Ama didn't know or sense the happenings were all because of her lack of confession. Ama, only knew it's a death sentence if the victims fails to confess after 21 days. but what she doesn't know was many innocent villagers in the land will be involved in her punishment. In a week times, animals begans to die, rivers and well dried were as well dried. Only the Ajara forbidden river was not affected.
After two weeks strange sickness out break hits the people. The young ones fall mysteriously sick and died. The very day, Ama left her daughter's house, when her husband went to work and Adwoa went to market Ama observed the house was a bit silence, she place a curse and dropt a note on the table warning kofi and his wife Adwoa never come near her house again. As she renounce them from being her daughter and son inlaw.

Ashamed and fearful of exposing the truth, Ama kept her discovery a secret. However, Akua's visions persisted, urging her to uncover the truth. To go and make her confessions to the elders for the wraths of the gods to rest. She made her mum to understand that it was all because of her that the entire land was suffering, she pleaded with Ama but the shame and pains was still burning inside. Akwua told her mum that she had already seen a glimpses of Kofi's rituals in her vision, the sacrifices he made, and those he had destroyed. Ama was surprised to hear that Kofi's act was not just for the fun of pleasing his wife as she suspected his wife could be the cause for not agreeing getting married to another man as she had earlier advices her to do but for rituals money and dark powers. Ama wondered why she was not told by Ikeni the great seer and Akwua told her it was the best thing to do because he doesn't want her to panic knowing she has been used spiritually by Kofi for money and dark powers. And hence there was a way out it then there was no need of letting the cats out from the bag. Adwoa gave Ama some hopes, that no matter what Kofi must have done to her spiritual, once! she was able to make her confess all can still be reversed by the gods.

The third week, As the spell's grip tightened, the gods striked again. Adwoa began to wither away, her beauty fading like the moon in the morning light. Meanwhile Akwua became worried and unhappy because she had seen what has befall her younger sister Adwoa. Akwua went to her mum Ama and pleaded, asking her to confess the truth so she and the entire village can be free from the wrath of the gods that the gods had striked at her own daughter Adwoa as such she needs to do something fast for no one knows the net place it will strike next. Ama became scared, in tears she personally told Akwua all that happens and Akwua assured her not to worry, but go ahead to make confession to the elders and be free from her burden. Ama promise going but kept thinking in fear and the days kept going swiftly.
It's already 18 days, and as the darkness deepened, Ama's health began to decline, her body weakened by the secrets she kept.

In a dramatic turn of events, Adwoa returned home to her mum in tears. Ama who was critically sick couldn't do anything and can't even chase her out of her home instead started crying seeing the condition of her once beautiful daughter became ugly and shapeless. Ama had to forgive her daughter Adwoa who came begging for her forgiveness. Adwoa explained that every thing that happened had nothing to do with her because she had been under her husband's spell and never married him with her cleared eyes but under his dark charms. She told Ama that she had finally freed from the spell, and revealed the shocking truth: Kofi was indeed a ritualist, using dark magic to maintain his wealth and dark powers. The villagers, outraged by the abomination, both Ama and Adwoa were weak and helpless and Ama too told her what she needed to do but was ashamed until now seeing her this way. Ama and her daughter Adwoa went to the elders at the kings palace with the help of Akwua, and she made her confessions narrating everything to them. With the help of Ikeni who told the elders he was aware of her case that her conditions became critical when she refused to make her confessions all because of shame. The elders understood and sympathized with her. Performed a cleansing ritual, shattering the curse with sacrifices to the gods. Ikeni did the river bath cleancing, she and her daughter Adwoa were made clean. Restoration and balance to their community Akwamu.
Ama, once ashamed, now stood tall, her motherly instincts vindicated. Akua's gift had saved her sister, and their bond grew stronger. The village, once divided, united against the forces of darkness, ensuring that the shadows of the ritual would never haunt them again.

But the consequences of Kofi's actions lingered, a reminder of the dangers of meddling with forces beyond human control. Adwoa, once a victim, now stood as a testament to the power of resilience and the unbreakable bonds of family. And Akua, the seer, continued to watch over her family, ever vigilant, ready to face whatever darkness lay ahead.
