I vividly remember the year 2011 when Adobe Premiere Pro seemed so complicated to me and so strange, almost like a gaming console.
At that time, I was working at a private TV station as a trainee. I spent few weeks there, hoping to be shortlisted for a paid position after few months and eventually become a permanent staff member.
As part of my training, I was instructed to learn from all departments. When I got to the video editing department, I met an editor who showed me what I call the “bitter part of life.” I would sit beside this guy from morning till afternoon, yet he wouldn’t explain anything about Premiere Pro to me.
All he did was put on his headphones, press the keyboard at lightning speed, use shortcut keys like a pro, and make everything look so frustrating to me. Eventually, I left the company, discouraged and frustrated, partly because of him and also because of another person, a manager, who was the main reason I walked away.
Few months later, I went to my cousin, who taught me the basics of photography. I started attending workshops to learn more. I learned from colleagues, professionals, street photography, YouTube, and online tutorials. After a few years, I ventured into cinematography, and I began doing amazing things I never thought I could do.
The things that once seemed so complicated in 2011 especially in Premiere Pro have now become simple for me. Although I am still learning, and I am no longer where I used to be.
The moral of my story is this: God is not done with you yet. His ways are not our ways, and His time is not our time. A hundred years to us is like a single day in the sight of God. I am so grateful that I was not "programmed" to treat others the way I was treated. Instead, I am passionate about making a positive impact in people’s lives.
Today, I am training others with all that I have learned, even as I continue to grow in knowledge. I strongly believe that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
