I served when Senate was at its best — Oluremi Tinubu

Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has sparked nationwide reactions after stating that she served in the Senate “when it was really, really good.”

The former Lagos Central senator, who served from 2011 to 2023, made the comment during an event in Niger State, a statement many Nigerians and political analysts now interpret as an indirect criticism of the current 10th National Assembly.

Some observers have described today’s Senate as a “rubber stamp” assembly, alleging that executive requests now receive swift approvals with little opposition.

Others, however, argue that the First Lady was simply reflecting on her personal experience during her years in office.

Do you think her statement was a subtle shade at the current Senate?

ADC Convention: Opposition Leaders Tackle Tinubu Over Hardship, Insecurity

Top figures in the African Democratic Congress, including David Mark, Atiku Abubakar, and Rauf Aregbesola, have openly criticized the administration of Bola Tinubu over rising insecurity and economic hardship in Nigeria.

Speaking at the party’s national convention in Abuja, the leaders warned that the 2027 elections will not be an easy win for the current administration, stressing that Nigerians are facing increasing poverty and worsening security challenges.

Peter Obi and Rotimi Amaechi also raised concerns about the state of the nation, calling for unity and a serious shift in leadership direction.

However, the convention comes amid internal crisis within the ADC, with multiple factions disputing leadership and legitimacy, raising questions about the party’s readiness for the 2027 general elections.

What do you think? Is Nigeria ready for a strong opposition ahead of 2027?

Wike vs ADC: “Bring Proof!"

Tension is rising as FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has challenged the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to provide evidence of their claim that they were denied access to Eagle Square for their convention.

According to Wike, no formal application was ever submitted to his office or any relevant authority.
His words?

“If you say you were denied, show proof that you applied.”
This comes after ADC accused authorities of frustrating their plans by refusing them access to key venues in Abuja.
But Wike isn’t having it.

He insists: The venue is open to everyone
Proper procedures must be followed
Other parties like PDP and APC followed due process
Meanwhile, ADC has moved its convention to another venue, keeping the political drama alive.

At this point, Nigerians are watching closely
Is this a case of denied access…
Or failure to follow due process?
One thing is certain politics in Nigeria is getting more intense as 2027 approaches.

ADC CRISIS DEEPENS AS FACTIONS BATTLE FOR CONTROL

Nigeria’s political space just got more heated as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) sinks deeper into internal crisis.

A group of state chairmen claiming representation across 25 states has announced a new caretaker committee, effectively taking over the party’s leadership. The move is backed by the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Dumebi Kachikwu.

The newly unveiled leadership names Kingsley Ogga as chairman, signaling a major shift in the party’s power structure.
But that’s not all…

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had earlier removed key figures, including David Mark, from its official records, fueling the ongoing power struggle.
Now, the ADC is split into three major factions:
The David Mark-led bloc
The Nafiu Gombe-led group
The new caretaker committee led by Kingsley Ogga

Each faction is claiming legitimacy.
While one side insists they are restoring order, the other accuses them of being influenced by external political forces.

With multiple court cases, internal disputes, and leadership battles, questions are already rising:
Can ADC survive this crisis?

Will this affect opposition strength ahead of 2027?
Is Nigeria gradually heading towards a weakened multi-party system?

One thing is clear, the fight for control within ADC is far from over.

Stay with Popa Media for more updates on Nigeria’s political landscape.

2027 Elections: INEC Under Fire!

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is facing heavy criticism following the delisting of key African Democratic Congress (ADC) leaders, including David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola.

Opposition leaders accuse the commission of bias and interference by the ruling APC, calling for the immediate removal of INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan. INEC, however, maintains its independence, insisting it’s following court orders and constitutional mandates.

The crisis comes amid ongoing leadership disputes within the ADC, raising concerns about opposition readiness for the 2027 general elections. Tensions at INEC headquarters have intensified, with protests and heightened security marking the unfolding political drama in Abuja.

What do you think? Is INEC acting neutrally, or is Nigeria’s democracy under threat?

BREAKING NEWS

INEC has officially recognized the PDP faction aligned with Nyesom Wike, following the party’s recent national convention in Abuja.

The electoral body updated its records to reflect new leadership, including a National Chairman and other key officials emerging from the convention.

In a related development, a Federal High Court has barred a rival faction led by Tanimu Turaki from accessing the PDP national secretariat, declaring their earlier convention invalid and unconstitutional.

This latest development deepens the ongoing leadership crisis within the PDP as both factions continue to battle for control ahead of the 2027 elections.

The big question remains: Will the Supreme Court settle this once and for all?

POLITICS UPDATE

Opposition parties have criticized the Federal Government over its directive asking civil servants in Abuja to work from home ahead of the APC national convention.

The move, which led to road closures around key government offices, has been described by critics as an abuse of power and a disruption to governance.

Some opposition leaders argue that:

Government activities should not be paused for party events

The decision raises concerns about democratic practices

It could set a worrying precedent ahead of the 2027 elections

However, supporters of the decision say it was necessary to manage traffic, security, and the large turnout expected for the convention.

While critics see politics taking priority over governance, the government insists it’s a practical step, not a political one.

What do you think

was this a smart move or an abuse of power?

“Stop Twisting the Law!” — Tinubu Fires Back at Opposition

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called out opposition parties, accusing them of deliberately twisting the Electoral Act for political gain.

Speaking at the APC National Convention in Abuja, the President insisted that the Electoral Act was properly passed through due process, not imposed.

“Constant attacks on the Electoral Act are misleading and harmful to democracy,” he said.

He also addressed growing concerns about Nigeria becoming a one-party state, stating clearly: “We do NOT seek a one-party state.”
According to Tinubu, democracy thrives on strong opposition but not on misinformation.

Meanwhile, he defended his economic reforms, admitting they are tough but necessary for long-term growth.

But Nigerians are asking:
Is this about protecting democracy… or controlling the narrative?

What do you think, is the opposition truly twisting facts, or raising valid concerns?
