The Oluwo of Iwo has accused the Ooni of Ife of having s3xual relations with his ex-wife while they were still married. He said he doubts the paternity of the child they had together.

In a viral video on his official page, the monarch claimed that his former wife, who was introduced to him from Canada, was part of a grand conspiracy to kill him and destroy his throne.

“My things are hidden. None of you can endure what these people have done to me. They packaged a woman for me. I didn’t know her from Canada. It was a setup. She was in my house for over three years, communicating with them and plotting my death.”

According to Oba Akanbi, the woman who later had a child he now doubts the paternity allegedly pois0ned him twice and made several ass@ssin@tion attempts while secretly working with the Ooni and his allies.

“They were setting me up with videos and many things in my own house. This supposedly ex-wife was asking me questions in the room, but it was death they sent into my home. She had a child, whom I don’t even know if he’s my child now. I have to confirm that through DNA.”

Oluwo alleged further that after he sent the woman away, the Ooni personally arranged accommodation for the woman and her son and was with her at a hotel.

The monarch further noted that his conflict with the Ooni would never end.

Heavy rainfall on Wednesday left parts of Lagos submerged, causing severe flooding on major roads and in residential areas, especially across the Island axis.

The downpour, which lasted for hours, disrupted traffic, damaged properties, and forced many commuters to abandon vehicles and trek long distances.

Worst-hit areas include Mile 2, Lekki Phase 1, Lekki Expressway, 3rd Mainland Bridge, Ago Palace Way, Ayobo-Ipaja, Fola Osibo, and Sangotedo. Residents and eyewitnesses blamed blocked drainages and clogged water channels for worsening the situation.

An eyewitness stranded on the 3rd Mainland Bridge described the experience as terrifying, saying their bus nearly lost balance in the floodwaters.

In Lekki, residents lamented poor government response, noting that drainage channels remained clogged, with foul odours lingering after the rain.

“There’s traffic everywhere. I can’t even get a ride to deliver an item. The road construction before Abraham Adesanya is making things worse.

“Government should speed it up or pause it until the rainy season ends,” a resident complained.

In Orchid, another resident decried how stagnant water from clogged drains had become breeding grounds for mosquitoes and insects.

The flooding also triggered gridlock across major roads, with commercial drivers struggling to navigate submerged routes.

Traffic officials were deployed to ease movement, while authorities warned residents against dumping refuse into drainage channels, stressing that environmental laws would be strictly enforced to avert future flooding.

🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨
A former Senate Majority Whip, Ali Ndume, has faulted the emergency rule declared by President Bola Tinubu in Rivers State, warning that the decision undermined democratic principles.
Ndume, who represents Borno South in the Senate, spoke on Wednesday in Port Harcourt on the sidelines of the 2nd 2025 ECOWAS Parliamentary Seminar.

The lawmaker, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), insisted that there was no justification for Tinubu’s action, which resulted in the six-month suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and members of the Rivers House of Assembly.

“Supposing somebody wakes up one day to say he is declaring a state of emergency in Nigeria? It’s just mad, you know! Like America now, the UN now, can they declare a state of emergency in Nigeria and say the Nigerian government should be suspended? It is wrong. What is wrong is wrong,” Ndume told journalists.

Naija News reports that Tinubu lifted the emergency rule on September 17, reinstating Fubara and the suspended lawmakers.

Ndume stressed that democracy thrives only when the executive, legislature, and judiciary operate independently but interdependently.

He said, “If you remove the legislature from democracy, what do you have? You don’t have democracy. And at the same time, you can’t have democracy without the executive or the judiciary. They must exist together to make democracy work.”

Despite his sharp criticism of Tinubu, the senator commended Governor Fubara for showing restraint throughout the crisis.

The lawmaker further stated, “It takes exceptional maturity as a leader by saying let the past be past and let’s move forward, and that is what a leader is supposed to do. And I hope that everybody, including you (journalists) and every Nigerian, will now concentrate on making sure that democracy is sustained.”

Ndume also urged leaders in the oil-rich state to focus on harnessing its vast resources for development rather than plunging it back into turmoil.

He added, “What Rivers alone has, about 15 to 20 countries in Africa put together don’t have. Yet, most of you are suffering, or all of us are suffering. Running government on discretion, personalising or even privatising it, is the main thing setting Nigeria back

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has presented cheques worth ₦2.17 billion to 1,574 beneficiaries and next-of-kin of deceased police officers.

The ceremony took place on Wednesday at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, with members of the management team, insurance stakeholders and beneficiaries in attendance.

The funds were paid under the Group Life Assurance and IGP Family Welfare Schemes, covering policy years from 2015 to 2025.

The IGP said the payment also included recoveries of outstanding claims that had been pending for close to a decade.

Egbetokun noted that the exercise marks the 11th disbursement since he assumed office.

He said the total amount paid to families of fallen officers during his tenure has now exceeded ₦24.2 billion, benefiting 9,735 families.

The IGP described the exercise as a solemn duty of remembrance and responsibility.

He added that the Force is redesigning its welfare architecture to be stronger, transparent and fully digitised to ensure prompt payment of entitlements.

Egbetokun commended the Force Insurance Unit for diligence, the insurance companies for meeting obligations, and the ministry of police affairs for guidance.

He also thanked President Bola Tinubu for what he described as “unwavering support” to police welfare initiatives.

🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨
The Ogun State Government has filed charges against two traditional rulers and some individuals over land grabbing across the state.

The state government filed charges of forceful takeover of land against Oba Fatai Matanmi, the Onijoko of Ijoko Ota.

In a statement signed by the Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General of the state, Oluwasina Ogungbade, investigations revealed that Oba Matanmi sold a parcel of land in 1976 for N22,000 to one Madam Irokosu, now deceased.

While alive, Late Madam Irokosu fenced the land and later sold the land to the complainant in 2016, who took possession immediately after the sale.

Following Madam Irokosu’s demise, Oba Matanmi harassed the complainant, claiming that the late Madam Irokosu owed him a balance of N28,000.

Despite the bogus claim, the complainant paid N5,000,000 to Oba Matanmi to maintain peace.
However, Oba Matanmi continued to harass the complainant, leading to the charges filed in HCT/84R/2025, The State v. Oba Fatai Matanmi.

In another suit marked HCT/77R/2025, The State v. Oba Yusuf Olasunkanmi, containing charges of securing entry into land by violence against Oba Yusuf Olasunkanmi, the Olu of Orile-Igbon. Oba Olasunkanmi, using intermediaries, unlawfully appropriated land belonging to the complainant and many others.

He commissioned the attachment of land and enforcement of a judgment in areas over one kilometer away from the judgment land, forcefully sending away legitimate occupants.

Oba Olasunkanmi is set to be arraigned on Thursday, September 25, 2025.

Furthermore, the state has filed charges against two individuals, Lekan Agbogun and Akinbowale Beckley, who sold a complainant’s property in the Mosafejo area of Abeokuta without authorisation.

The statement stressed that these individuals conspired to sell a third party’s property to a buyer overseas, despite having no title or claim to the land and despite the presence of the complainant’s existing building on the land.

While these defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the state has filed these charges to demonstrate its commitment to tackling land grabbing and criminal dealings regarding land.

Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand, has told Benjamin Sesko he cannot make it at the club if he continues with his current display.

This was after the Slovenian registered just six touches against 10-man Chelsea in the first half of their Premier League clash on Saturday.

Sesko was not able to find the back of the net for Manchester United once again.

United brought in Sesko in the summer for a reported fee of £74m to help out in their lingering attacking problems.

He has now played six games for the Red Devils, including one in the Carabao Cup, but is yet to score his first goal for the club.

During the game against Chelsea, the Slovenian was subbed off at half-time.

Ferdinand said the player must find a way to change the situation, starting by speaking to his teammates.

“In the first half, against 10 men, he’s had six touches,” Ferdinand said on his YouTube podcast. “Six touches!”

“I think the responsibility goes to the striker as well [as other players],” Ferdinand added.

“In today’s game there’s enough at your disposal technology-wise and clip-wise that you can get it in black and white on the iPad and say to your teammates, ‘You know when you got in that position, look where I am’.

“It’s decision making in the final third that’s going to set him free or it isn’t, and he’s got to try and dictate to a lot of those players either through runs that make it so obvious or physically telling them after a game.”

Manchester United have played five games in the Premier League.

They have won two, including Saturday’s 2-1 win over Chelsea, lost two and drew one.

As China continues to dominate Nigeria’s exports, supplying N4.96 trillion worth of goods in the second quarter of this year, bilateral trade between both countries rose by 34.7 per cent to $15.48 billion between January and July 2025, compared with the same period in 2024.

Consul-General of the People’s Republic of China in Lagos, Yan Yuqing, disclosed this, noting that Nigeria is now China’s second-largest trading partner in Africa. She said that the increase reflected the strengthening of economic ties between the countries.

Attributing this growth partly to the elevation of bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership at the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) summit, she said it had opened broader opportunities for collaboration.

An explosion at the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) Ordnance Factory in Kaduna on Saturday claimed the life of one staff member while others sustained injuries, the management of the corporation has confirmed.

The incident, which occurred around 10 am at the factory’s disposal pit, was said to have happened during the destruction of expired explosives and raw materials for arms production.

DICON explained that the items—comprising Ammonium Nitrate, primer caps, propellants and other expired materials—had long exceeded their lifespan and were being safely disposed of.

According to the corporation, the exercise had been ongoing since July 2025, with most of the volatile substances already destroyed before the unfortunate accident.

“The injured DICON staff are currently receiving treatment at 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna, while the body of the deceased personnel has been deposited at the mortuary,” DICON’s spokesperson, Maria Sambo, said in a statement.

She assured residents of the surrounding Kurmin Gwari community that the situation was under control, stressing that there was no cause for panic as remaining hazardous materials had been secured.

“DICON, as a responsible professional organisation, has institutionalised operational safety to the highest level. The neighbouring community is assured that they can go about their normal business,” the statement added.

The corporation further disclosed that a Board of Inquiry has been set up to ascertain the immediate cause of the incident.

🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨
Nollywood actor cm politician, Kenneth Okonkwo, has accused President Bola Tinubu of illegally depriving Governor Siminalayi Fubara of his full constitutional four-year tenure by the state of emergency declared in Rivers State.
Naija News reports that Okonkwo, in a statement released on Saturday via his 𝕏 account, insisted that Fubara’s administration should run until November 29, 2027, rather than the conventional May 29, 2027, to compensate for the period lost during the state of emergency.

The Labour Party chieftain urged Fubara to challenge the impact of the six-month state of emergency declared by President Tinubu on his tenure as the Governor of Rivers State.

“Gov Fubara was elected to serve for four years from the date of being sworn in.

“The illegal declaration of the state of emergency has reduced his term of office illegally by six months. Fubara has the right to challenge this illegal declaration of a state of emergency that took his six months away from him in court, with a view to recovering his six months,” he argued.

Citing Supreme Court precedent, Okonkwo noted that the Apex Court had established that governors must complete four full years from their swearing-in date.

According to his calculation, ending Fubara’s tenure on May 29, 2027, would shortchange Rivers people of six months of democratic governance.

“Supreme Court has held that the tenure of a Governor must complete four years from the day he was sworn in. This was how we got the staggered electoral system in our elections.

“If Fubara leaves office on May 29, 2027, he served for only three years and six months. He is entitled to four years from the day he was sworn in. His tenure should be due to end on the 29th day of November, 2027,” he argued.

Okonkwo also warned that conducting gubernatorial elections in Rivers State before November 29, 2027, would be unconstitutional, warning that the precedent being set could affect future democratic processes across the country.

“Any conduct of gubernatorial election before the expiration of his tenure on the 29th day of November 2027 should be deemed illegal and unconstitutional.”

“This will send a conclusive message to every future President that his action can not terminate or shorten the will of the people as expressed through elections.

Power to govern Rivers State belongs to Rivers people, not to any President or his unelected Sole Administrator.”

“Rivers State must recover all the months that the Tinubu’s cankerworm government has wasted for them,” he declared.
