Guardian - from the series ‘What We Carry’

What We Carry is an ongoing photographic series exploring African cultural identity through dress, symbolism, and inherited meaning. By placing contemporary luxury insignias onto traditional garments, I create a dialogue between ancestral symbols and modern global culture, asking what we preserve, what we transform, and what we choose to carry forward.

Pleased to share that a work from Where My Head Goes has been shortlisted for the Royal Photographic Society International Photography Exhibition 167.

The photograph joins works by 318 photographers from 41 countries, selected from over 10,000 entries by 5,266 photographers worldwide.

Created on Swansea Bay, the photograph forms part of an ongoing exploration of Ori, destiny, and the unseen forces that shape our movement through the world.

Grateful to see the work recognised within this year’s selection.

The Art of Her Crown, 2026 is an ongoing series celebrating Black beauty, dark skin, and the sculptural power of traditional African hairstyles.

Through imagined forms adorned with cowries and cultural symbols, the work explores how African hair might have evolved if uninterrupted by western influence, wigs, and artificial beauty standards.

Each portrait honors heritage, confidence, and the crown as both art and identity.
