Paul Brouns Photographic Art

Paul Brouns Photographic Art Photography inspired by rhythm & architecture URBAN TAPESTRIES IN PHOTOGRAPHY
Paul Brouns is fascinated by the abstract qualities of architecture.

Gorgeous compositions, full of rhythm, colour, lines and patterns play a major role in his photography. The original buildings can still be recognized but are transformed into near abstract Urban Tapestries. These works are available as unique limited edition prints in several sizes.

Dutch-American Lines

At last I can share this new photo. Its striking sunshades are hard to overlook. The title is no coincidence: this former Holland America Line building overlooking the port of Rotterdam once housed emigrants heading overseas. Since 1993 its new life started as Hotel New York, and in 2000 it became a national heritage site.

Playing the Squares

An afternoon scene in Amsterdam. Here you can see it hanging in my livingroom (together with Marley 🐕). And after some travelling adventures it was recently delivered in its new home in Chicago, ILL.

Once again, special thanks to Saatchi Art for their services !

“Mediterranean Perspectives”

Walden 7 is an apartment building, designed by Ricardo Bofill, located West of Barcelona. Its terracotta red facades and multiple view angles inspired me to create this surreal composition.

Joyful Embrace

This is the Rehabilitation center Vita Nova in Roermond, the Netherlands. Its facade is surrounded by a veil of colorful ceramic strips that filter the daylight and which is very inviting and friendly looking. I decided to play with the point of view, standing on a corner to capture the rich depth as well as a frontal angle around the corner from the middle. In this way you see the joyful outer curtain that tenderly embraces the core of the building.

Cubist Garden I – Spring

Ørestad Plejecenter is a building complex for senior housing near Copenhagen, Denmark, designed by JJW Arkitekter. Although predominantly geometrical, the lively variation of balcony shapes and window sizes, combined with the tender green colour definitely gives me organic associations: spring in full swing!

Shifting Perspectives

This is a partial façade of the Kaleidoscope, a building in London designed by PLP Architecture. I like its interplay of structure, light, and reflection. Geometric precision meets fleeting moments - birds in flight, fragments of sky, and shifting shadows.
