Have you noticed how good it feels when you act true to yourself? When your behaviour lines up with your values and you don't have to pretend to be someone else or act out of character. That feels delicious, right?

So why do we love fakeness and artificial things more than ever these days? Sure, perhaps we want to escape the reality of our lives, put on a mask, take a little break from our actual daily existence. I totally get that. The fantasy world of generated identity is tantalising.. we can be something or someone we're not.

But.. what if you dared to actually embrace your realness, to be fully 100% yourself. And what if that real you would be accepted fully by others? Would be met with warmth and recognition and love? Would bring you more success and happiness than a pretend version?

I am SO proud of the utterly unique .mirna for showing up for her Real You photo experience as herself!

Mirna my dear you are a one-off, absolutely glorious individual with so much humour and fun to bring to the world, and so many stories to keep us all entertained. Thank you for being you!

LOYE YOURSELF FIRST and THE REST WILL FOLLOW! 🫶🏽❤️✨

It's a beautiful thing when you figure out that it's a good thing to love yourself, to approve of yourself, to be friends with yourself. That it's not cheesy or selfish, but actually essential to being emotionally healthy. How cool is that?!

On Valentine's Day in Finland - Ystävänpäivä - everyone's included in the fun. Friends, neighbours, colleagues, families and lovers are celebrated equally.

I'd like to add 'YOURSELF' to that fine list.

Because if you can learn to truly love yourself, to like who you are, to give yourself permission to BE who you are, without apologising or making yourself smaller, then the world will be one person healthier.

My mission for you is for you to learn how to LOVE YOURSELF. Do you accept?

Throughout our long-term collaboration I've seen her evolve and her confidence sky-rocket, as she adds new skills to her repertoire.

Viv dances every style, from classical ballet to showgirl. She can even be found spinning in an aerial hoop or performing her own self-choreographed burlesque shows across Germany. And I believe she's only just getting started..

COME, TAKE A PEEK BEHIND THE SCENES OF DAVE PELHAM PHOTOGRAPHY

I invite you to come and see what a real life photo session with me is actually like!

My love for portrait photography is rooted in an even deeper love for my fellow human and a fascination with how our brains, bodies and souls work. With my work I strive to encourage freedom of expression, the healing of trauma and the rewriting of negative self-censorship into positive self-talk and confidence. Having this deep purpose gives me a strong basis from which to create safe spaces for everyone who visits my studio and takes the bold step to be really seen. The results of this connection are the portraits we make together.

Having started in 2008 as a photographer of everything and everyone, over the past 17 years I have matured into a specialist portrait artist with a particular passion for people who need a helping hand and a kind word to come out of their comfort zone into the place where the magic starts to happen. I consider it the highest honour to listen to the fascinating stories of people from each corner of this beautiful earth, and hear how their lives have unfolded and what they want for the future.

When I venture out of the studio, it’s often to photograph a company in their own context. I’m just as comfortable spending a day in a corporate setting photographing 50 company headshots as I am in the studio with 1 person. I love the diversity of humanity and the extra beauty and conversations that brings, alongside the challenge of creating visual consistency without reducing everyone to a samey uniformity.

When one client told me after we finished a recent session together ‘you’re like a kind of ’, I first blushed behind my beard and then decided to start using this new word! I love it wholeheartedly and have decided it describes my aspirations very well. I always want to see the best in people and enormously feel blessed and grateful to do what I do.

PURPOSEFUL PORTRAITS

I am delighted to share this series of scroll-stopping portraits with you. Featuring the uniquely fantastic and lovely Zippora Mokumbirth, wearing handmade clothing by , I am in love with the mood we evoked, the colour palette and set design that ties it all together.

With Zippora's captivating and natural body language, this for me is a joyous project to finally unveil here. Thank you Zippora, from the bottom of my heart, for the energy, time, passion and playfulness you put into making this happen!

I believe in having a purpose in everything I do, which is why I'm all the more delighted to feature the work of that Zippora is modelling. In Nina's own words:

It's impossible to pigeon-hole, to categorise people, to put them in a small box with one label on the outside.

I want to spend my life discovering all of the unknown, the hidden and visible sides of myself, the artsy, the fun, the weird, the sad and the inspirational.

Loving yourself - your inner world and your outer appearance - is a powerful and peaceful thing.

We’re all a work in progress but it’s amazing how good you can feel about yourself when you’re listened to, encouraged and photographed by someone who cares.

My mission is to help you along on your journey of self-acceptance and expression, and to create natural portraits that truly feel like you.

💡 TESTING THE LIGHT 💡

I'm going to write some really witty words here about how life is like one big light test 💡

You have to set things up, move around, find the right exposure, speed ⚡️, balance the ambient with the artificial, constantly experiment 👩🏽‍🔬, learn from your mistakes 🤷🏼‍♂️, failing forward all the while, until you end up with something you're satisfied with. Then wake up do it all again the very next day.
