*** TAKEOVER ***

A new month, a new takeover! This time we have Japanese photographer as our guest. So happy she found some time to show us her work here the coming days.

Miyuki Okuyama is a Japanese photographer who lives in the Netherlands. She works on documentary, art photo and self-designed photo-books.

Her images are often taken with the perspective of an expatriate Japanese. For more than 20 years, she has been living away from home and it was after her move from home that she started photography. Yet, her creations are deeply rooted into her childhood in northeast Japan. Being away from home became one of her most important drives for photography. Through photographing, she seeks connections to her origin.

Her works have been exhibited internationally, including in Ivory Coast, Indonesia, Germany, Singapore, The Netherlands and Italy . She won several intenational photography awards and two of her self-designed books were published as the winners of photo-book awards.

A big welcome to Miyuki Okuyama. Follow her this week here on 🖤

My first artist book ‘Máthair’, Irish for Mother.

‘In this series Daniëlle Siobhán focusses on the basic elements out of which Mother Nature consists.

Touching upon the interaction between and the blending of the elements, Daniëlle’s work is an intuitive poem that weaves together the solidity of rocks with the fluidity of waters and the contrasts between temperatures with the elusiveness of air.

As versatile as nature appears - from the warmth of a golden hour to the coolness of the ocean and all nuances in between - Daniëlle shows how fragments mingle in a dance of intertwining.

This body of work by Daniëlle is about merging with nature. While she merges with nature, she captures nature’s emergence.
Her photographs carry the experience of being one with mother earth - one with Máthair.’

‘Sea through’, an ode to the ocean by

As I’m from Dutch and Irish descent I’ve always been surrounded by the sea so the sight of mystical coastlines has always been my homing playground.

I have always been mesmerised by the sounds, reflections and formations of water and not a day goes by where I don’t watch the rippling water while the sun kisses the horizon.

‘Along the sea is where she will be.’

Hi everyone! My name is , I’m an interior and travel photographer from Dutch and Irish descent and this week I’ll be focussing on landscape photography.

At the age of 24 I won silver at the World Nature Photography Awards 2020 in the plants & fungi category with my image ‘Frailejónes’.
Manizales, Colombia 2018. I found myself standing in an at least 400 year old field of true survivors; the Frailejón. Also known as Espeletia or ‘the hooded monk’. With its soft leaves and light yellow flowers they stand in a thick mist and grow up to ten meters tall. A true survivor of the Northern Andes when you come to realise it takes a year to grow 2,5cm. Sensitive, yet so strong and extremely beautiful.

*** TAKEOVER ***

Are you ready for a new takeover? Well, we definitely are!

The next coming days Dutch / Irish photographer will add some much needed warmth and poetry to this cold February. So happy she made some time for us. Welcome Daniëlle 🖤!

Daniëlle Siobhán is an interior and travel photographer, born in 1995. Since the age of sixteen she has worked in Amsterdam, London, Dublin and New York, both as photographer and post producer.

Dannielle uses light to portray warmth with a sense of wonder and melancholy. Often drawn from her own surroundings, her approach captures stillness in nature’s colliding tones and soft hues, rendering painting like visuals that are strikingly authentic. She works intuitively which creates a distinctive style that is raw, yet poetic. Her work is a tribute to nature’s unexpected artistry.

Her photography has been featured in Architectural Digest, Vogue Living and Wallpaper* City Guides and nowadays she works for clients such as Capture One, Canon, Harper’s Bazaar and Elle Decoration.

Curious about what Daniëlle has in store for us? Then stay tuned this week and warm up your soul. 🖤

Hi! here for this last day of take over .

The first picture I took in Iceland.

The second picture shows a series of images of an artificial snow crystal growing on an electric needle in a laboratory. It demonstrates how these ice structures can take on such elaborate shapes.

Hi, here again.

I took this picture inside the Rhône glacier. The structure of the ice is fascinating in itself, but I also see a resemblance to veins of leaves, or - with a bit of imagination - of human beings.

Hi, on day 3 of my take over…
‘Let’s build a mountain’

After many years, life returns in the foreland of the glacier. Once there was ice, nowadays lichen grow on rocks and plants appear between the stones.

second part of today’s take over.
‘Let’s build a mountain’.

1. Glacial ice contains a large amount of sediments such as sand, gravel, and boulders. Together, the movement plucks off bedrock and grinds the bedrock producing a polished surface and fine sediment.
2. Melting water in the ice grotto of the Rhône glacier.
