Laid-back and heartfelt weddings are my vibe! I prefer capturing small civil weddings to big grand celebrations (to each their own I always say!) Most of my clients also opt for a small, intimate and relaxed wedding and I'm forever grateful for their amazing taste. In my years, I've photographed a few relaxed weddings, and have put together my top 5 relaxed wedding locations in Amsterdam.

Grace and Ben's City Hall Wedding is now on the blog! ⁠

Ben and Grace are two dear friends of mine, who decided to get married on the 2nd of May 2020. Only they didn’t get married on the 2nd of May 2020, because there just happened to be a worldwide pandemic. And then the wedding got moved up to July. Yet again, their well-laid plans were foiled by Corona. They tried once again in October, and then in January.⁠
⁠
Fast forward to JUNE 2021 and finally they had a chance to say their I do’s, but in a very small and intimate way. Don’t worry though, they had one more trick up their sleeve when it came to their big bash. They were planning to say yes in Amsterdam, and a month later once more in Crete surrounded by friends and family.⁠
⁠
Grace is someone who loves the finer things in life. She always looks amazing, has great taste in fashion and just always knows the best places to go for food. She is also a steadfast friend, caring and gracious, with excellent advice to boot. Ben is the type of person who always makes you feel at ease, who is caring and kind, and will 100% make sure you always have a drink or snack in your hand at parties.⁠

We started the day at their house in Amsterdam East and walked 5 minutes to the City Hall. Along with their two witnesses, they ringed, signed and kissed (not their witnesses) and were out of there within 20 minutes.⁠

To celebrate we headed over to the Vergulden Enhoorn, making photos along the way.⁠
⁠
It was such a beautiful day in a summer of many not-so-beautiful-days. So I’m very happy that the universe gave them this little gift.⁠

I recently worked with an AMAZING group of women from the . In a nutshell (because they do SO much more), they provide hygiene products to local women in need. Their Dignity Kits include sanitary pads, toothpaste, tampons, shampoo and soap. ⁠
⁠
They had a big campaign last month to celebrate women's day, but also raise awareness on abortion in the Netherlands, what it means to be an intersectional feminist and the very disappointing national elections. ⁠
⁠
For the campaign I had the opportunity to photograph 4 gorgeous women (volunteers and staff alike), and I just can't get over how cool they are. I just can't. It's impossible. ⁠
⁠
So please give these friendly neighborhood feminists a follow, I promise you won't regret it, and donate the value of 3 cups of Starbucks coffee (Starbuck sucks anyway) and fund a Dignity Kit. You'll be helping local women at their most vulnerable time. ⁠

I don’t do a lot of newborn photoshoots. They’re usually the except rather than the rule. But who better to make an exception for than old friends ⁠
⁠
I visited my old friend (and fellow South African) Barbara in Haarlem to take some photos of her gorgeous newborn girl. I was curious to see what Lara would look like, because Barbara has the most striking and beautiful blue eyes you will ever see. And I was so excited to see if they would be passed on to the next generation.⁠
⁠
Well, it was a bit hard to see since Lara was asleep most of the time (as newborns tend to do). But I have good faith that her eyes will just be as stunning as her mom’s!⁠
⁠
It was such an honor to capture this special moment in time for Barbara and her husband. What’s even better, her mom came all the way from South Africa to spend time with the three of them. It just goes to show that photos are so important for amazing milestones like these!⁠

I also made a sneaky little video to surprise them after the shoot. Since I followed the Filmmaking for Photographers workshop with Hannah Millard a few months before, I felt confident enough to dive into the deep end ⁠

I met Anna (they/them/their) in their hometown of Enschede for a branding photoshoot. Before the photoshoot we had a lovely video chat to talk about Anna's wishes and wants for the photos. ⁠
⁠
The 2 most important elements we had to incorporate into the photos were authenticity and color. This was incredibly easy, as Anna is probably one of the most authentic and unique business owners I know! ⁠
⁠
During the call Anna also told me about some insecurities they had - which if possible - we could avoid in the final photos. Believe it or not, I was super glad to hear this! By voicing their insecurities, it took away the guesswork for me during the shoot, and I could customize poses and settings based on that. ⁠

I really appreciated Anna's honesty and openness, which in turn led to an amazingly relaxed photoshoot :) ⁠
