🌷 Dutch tulip bulb growers and and their lovely dog Floss inspect and enjoy their fantastic tulip fields. These 3 snaps are for my good friend . For a second year in a row, he wasn’t able to travel to The Netherlands to teach his photography workshops. I know he deeply misses our beautiful landscapes, tulips, windmills, sunrises, sunsets, clouds and of course the crazy festivities on ‘king’s day’. So dear Bryan, here’s to you and until we meet again, next April! 🌷

Thank you Tijmen and Tim for letting me photograph you and you work, and for the great conversation!

Thank you .artworks for the wonderful afternoon with you, cruising the Dutch landscapes for inspiration.

MORE ABOUT THE CLASS
An ode to our tree friends
This class is all about trees! They are very important for us. We need them, giving us oxygen, we use their wood to build our houses and warm ourselves... and where would us artists be without paper, brushes, easels and all that stuff... And of course, they are a great source of inspiration for many painters! That's why this class is dedicated to our wonderful tree friends.

Working with wood and twigs
In the class we'll work with acrylic paint and acrylic inks. We make a series of 4 trees. What makes this class such a high experience, is that you're not solely focusing on trees as a subject, but also using tools which trees have provided for us. We're working on wooden panels and using twigs for some of the detailed line work.

Suitable for all seasons
Another good thing about trees is, they're always there! This class is suitable for all seasons. Wonderful blossom trees in spring, full and green crowns in summer, rusty colours in autumn and even in winter you can focus on the bare trees or evergreens.

Painting your series step by step
Gathering inspiration in France, I invite you to go outside to meet your favourite trees - if possible of course! If you're not able to go outside at all, you will find other creative options, like looking at the trees in your garden or the trees you can see from your window. As I told you, we were working on this class long before we knew what we know now.
Anyway, take the energy of the trees into your sketch. Back in my studio I show you how to make your tree series with acrylic paint and acrylic inks. From working on the foundation, colour choice and composition, through to developing your painting until you're satisfied. I will share my process, step by step!

AT THE END OF THE CLASS, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO:
- get inspired by nature and find your favourite trees
- make quick sketches on location using basic shapes
- enjoy working with 6 different acrylic ink techniques
- transform your sketch into an acrylic piece of art
- paint your trees step by step, from rough to more detailed
- create art in an abstract, impressionistic and playful style
- bring in more depth in your paintings, by using shadow and light
- use the wonderful techniques of the roller
- complete a balanced series of trees

WHAT'S INCLUDED?
- Over 5 hours of video content containing:
- an inspirational tour and sketching sessions on 2 fantastic locations in France
- a playing with the ink session
- the painting sessions in the studio: I show you my 4 pieces of art, step by step, including how to work with the acrylic paint
- and in the last part of the class adding acrylic inks
- A downloadable and printable PDF workbook filled with extra tips & tricks about creating a series, how to create shadow and light, composition, a lot of inspiring images and pages for journaling and you sketches

Golden hour in the beautiful hills near Lachapelle, France. Can you imagine the countless sunflowers here in summer? We can! So we have started planning photography and painting workshops in this stunning and peaceful countryside!

This gorgeous little medieval village is situated in the French Département de Tarn-et-Garonne , about an hour from Toulouse. We were here for two weeks to shoot video materials for the new online acrylic painting class by Luz Artworks, called ‘Trees in the Light’, which will be released in the coming week. We also made lots of new friends and thanks to their enthusiasm, the idea of doing workshops around Lachapelle was born. Thank you Gill, Jeremy, Jill, Gill and Mike for your warm welcome and your introduction to this fantastic area!

We have found the perfect estate to luxuriously accommodate up to ten people. You will be amazed of ‘our’ beautifully restored old French farmhouse and the views from the large garden which is surrounded by sunflowers as far as your eyes can see. Follow my page if you are interested or DM me if you would like to receive more information.

Stoom Stichting Nederland in Amsterdam with the 01 1075 steam locomotive and train built in 1940 by Berliner Maschinenbau-Actien-Gesellschaft vormals L. Schwartzkopff, Berlin. It is one of only 4 still operational locomotives from this type. We were lucky to visit Amsterdam right at this moment!

The beautiful gas holder at Westergas Amsterdam was built in 1902 as part of the Westergasfabriek. The gas factory was closed in 1967 and it serves as a cultural venue since 1992, with numerous bars, restaurants, galeries and tv studio’s.

We see the reflection in a huge circular pond that was created in the foundation of a similar gas holder unit. It was demolished when the factory was closed. The polluted terrain had to be cleaned up and is now a nice park with walkways along the water.

Make sure you visit this area when you’re in Amsterdam!

Nice weather for a product review! 😅 When I was scouting for good locations, the floodgates of heaven opened and I was soaked within minutes. Except for the contents of the new Shimoda Design Explore 40 backpack!

You can read the entire camera bag review on my blog. The awesome Shimoda backpacks will be on Kickstarter for only 6 more days, so go check and save while you still can! You'll find the link in my review: https://www.anthonyverolme.com/shimoda-explore-40-camera-backpack-review/

The typical Dutch windmills you see here in Schermerhorn 🇳🇱 were built in 1636, after they had served some time in other villages. They were responsible for the water management in this ‘polder’ area. The windmills now serve as a museum which attract thousands of visitors each year.

The reason I got soaked is simple. My Fjällräven outdoor clothes with G1000 fabric are the best, but you need to wax them properly to be fully waterproof. I had been lazy… 😊
