Three headshot sessions in the last couple of months. A corporate executive shoot, website headshots for OnSite NDIS Support (), and staff portraits for a childcare centre. Different businesses, different reasons for needing photos, same thing every time.
None of them took long, twenty or thirty minutes, fitted around a normal workday. And almost nobody who sat down was comfortable about it. People stiffen up, try to look "professional," and end up looking uneasy instead. Normal, I see it on almost everyone.
What changes it is just talking. Keep the setup simple, keep the conversation going, give people something to react to instead of something to perform for. Every session ended with real smiles and real laughs, and photos people were genuinely happy to use.
Three completely different looks: sharper and polished for the executive shoot, warm and approachable for the NDIS portraits, relaxed for the childcare staff. Same thing underneath every time. Someone needed current photos, didn't want a big production, and got something that works. That's the kind of work I want more of.

She had a Hyrox event coming up not long after we shot this. The vest in the photo is the same one she'd been training in for months.
I shoot fitness in low light, body in shadow, work in the frame. A vest, a grip, a held breath at the top of a rep. That's the kind of picture I make.
Here's the thing for anyone reading this who'd never think to book a fitness shoot. You don't have to be a comp athlete. You don't need to be lean, or peak, or photo-ready. You don't need a before-and-after. What I'm looking for is real work, real grip on real iron, whatever your version of that looks like. A 5 am session in your garage. A boxing class you've been at for 2 years. The first month of strength training that nobody else has clocked yet.

Most businesses I talk to in Macarthur run on word of mouth.

They're not wrong to lean on it. But the referral gets someone to your page, it doesn't close them.

What's there when they arrive does that.

If your content doesn't tell people who you are and why you do it, you're leaving that last bit to chance.

That's the part I work on.

Starting a business is hard. Yeah, I know, groundbreaking stuff. But the reality is that none of us got into business so we could stand in front of a camera and put ourselves on the internet.
