De eerste vrolijke bloemen verschijnen weer in tuincentra en voor je het weet staat er eentje thuis.

My Monstera Monday Memory Lane 🌿 from tiny plant to monster leaf

Het begon allemaal als een bescheiden plantje met dichte bladeren, dat vervolgens stap voor stap uitgroeide tot een plant met die grote, iconische bladeren met gaten waar hij zo bekend om staat. De Monstera deliciosa is niet voor niets zo'n populaire kamerplant.

Gelukkig geniet ik nog volop van de foto's die ik nog heb van deze prachtige gatenplant.

Heb jij nog planten buiten staan die niet goed tegen kou kunnen? 🍃

Zodra de temperatuur richting 15°C of lager gaat, is het tijd om je planten even te checken. Sommige planten kunnen beter tegen kou dan andere en moeten op tijd naar binnen.

Vooral tropische en andere kougevoelige planten hebben moeite met koude nachten. Door ze vóór de winter naar binnen te halen, voorkom je onnodige kou-schade.

Een kleine reminder om nu alvast je planten te bekijken. Misschien staat er nog een plant buiten die beter beschermd de winter in kan. 🪴

I really didn’t see this coming. 🌺 English below 🇬🇧

Ik had deze siergember als tuinplant bijna opgegeven. Er gebeurde maar niets en ik wilde hem eigenlijk wegdoen.

Toch bewaarde ik hem nog een jaar.
Toen begon hij ineens enorm te groeien, met een flinke rhizoom onder de grond.
Na twee jaar wachten kwam eindelijk deze prachtige bloei. 🌺

Uiteindelijk heb ik hem weggedaan, omdat ik het zat werd om zo’n grote plant ieder jaar naar de schuur te verplaatsen.

Maar ik ben blij dat ik hem lang genoeg heb gehouden om deze bloem te zien.
Sommige bloemen blijven je bij. 🌿

Still, I kept it for another year. Then it suddenly started growing huge, with a large rhizome beneath the soil.
After two years of waiting, this beautiful bloom finally appeared. 🌺

I eventually let it go because I was tired of moving such a large plant into the shed every year.

But I’m glad I kept it long enough to see this flower.
