moments from my childhood, i wish i had photos of:

- inviting friends over for my mom’s famous mac & cheese
- the fairytale tapes i listened to in bed before falling asleep
- getting ice cream with my dad and him never trying a new flavour, always vanilla 🍦
- spending the entire day jumping on the trampoline with my sister
- playing doll until an inappropriately old age 🤭

none of these are the big moments. they’re not the milestones or life events, but the ordinary, daily things.

remember to document those ordinary moments in your child’s life before they are over ✨

do you worry that your kids won’t sit still long enough for a photoshoot? 🤍

that they’ll run around too much.
get distracted.
refuse to smile.
or just not listen at all.

honestly, most parents who book me feel this way beforehand.

but children were never meant to sit perfectly still for an hour.

the way your toddler hides behind your legs for the first few minutes.
the way they suddenly decide they want to pick flowers instead.
the running.
the climbing onto your hip again halfway through.

those are usually the moments that end up meaning the most later.

during my sessions, i don’t expect children to perform for the camera.

i let them move.
i let them explore.
i let them warm up in their own time.

and instead of fighting against their energy, i use it to help create photos that actually feel like your family.

sometimes that looks like:
walking together.
holding hands while your child swings between you.
picking them up when they get tired.
laughing because everything feels a little chaotic.

children do not need to be perfectly behaved for beautiful photos to happen.

they just need space to be themselves.

often, the more you let go of trying to make everything perfect,
the more honest the photos become 🤍

when your maternity session feels more like a slow afternoon than a photoshoot 🤍

you do not need to know what to do with your hands.
you do not need to perform for the camera.
and you definitely do not need a stressful experience during a season that is already asking so much of you.

your maternity photos can feel calm.
unhurried.
natural.

whether we stay at home in your own space or head outdoors for something more elevated, the goal is always the same:
to document this season in a way that actually feels like you.

before booking a photographer, make sure you speak to them first.
make sure their approach matches the experience you want to have.
because beautiful photos are only part of it.

pregnancy passes so much faster than it feels like it will.
one day, these photos become proof that this season really happened 🤍
