Dear friends, again a year has passed and we are looking forward to christmas, a time to remember. For several reasons this site has been pretty quiet this year, but I promise that will change next year. Despite the terrible things going on in this world I wish everybody a peaceful christmas and a verry happy New Year! See you in 2017!

Recently I've been to one of the saddest places in this world - the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. The world's worst-ever nuclear accident affected all of us living in Europe, but people in the Exclusion Zone of Ukraine and Belarus most. Pripyat is probably the most famous city of this Zone. It was a proud and the most modern city in the former Sovjet Union, only 1,5 km away from the nuclear power plant, that exploded in the night of 26 april 1986. The people of Pripyat were not warned about the threat of radioactive pollution and received a dosis that would have been lethal after approx. 96 hours. Only 36 hours after the explosion the inhabitants of Pripyat were evacuated. The city is abandoned ever since. The people of Pripyat deeply believed in the possibility of using radioactivity peacefully, but it is obvious, that mankind never will be able to master it!
