A purple anemone,
holding its center

They say it carries protection,

it feels like loss too,
like something once held
now let go.

It doesn’t stay long.
It knows that.

So it opens anyway—
soft,
steady,
unafraid of being brief.

And maybe that’s its language:

to bloom
even when you know
you won’t be kept.
