Avosa Telling Stories. Taking bookings in the Netherlands now. Marriage created character by bringing male and female into a binding partnership.

We believe in the Power of Marriage
“Western civilizations there have been several competing views of what the “form and function” of marriage should be. 24 The first two were the Catholic and the Protestant perspectives. Though different in many particulars, they both taught that the purpose of marriage was to create a framework for lifelong devotion and love between a husband and a wife. It was

a solemn bond, designed to help each party subordinate individual impulses and interests in favour of the relationship, to be a sacrament of God’s love (the Catholic emphasis) and serve the common good (the Protestant emphasis). Protestants understood marriage to be given by God not merely to Christians but to benefit the entirety of humanity. In particular, lifelong marriage was seen as creating the only kind of social stability in which children could grow and thrive. The reason that society had a vested interest in the institution of marriage was because children could not flourish as well in any other kind of environment. 25”

Spent a few days at the end of last year in a little slice of heaven set in the mountains of Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea, the guest of some extremely generous people. This isolated community is a beautiful example of an experiment in effective community, through personal responsibility and extreme ownership. I can't wait to finish putting this story together. If you ever wanted to get a glimpse of a beautiful community in action, then I would recommend checking these guys out.

“One of our inspirations and heroes is Destinee’s 94 year old grandma Dr Lin Calvert. She graduated from Medical School together with husband Peter 60 years ago, and left the next year to help start a hospital in a remote corner of Papua New Guinea accessible only by river. Sadly her husband Peter passed away of cancer many years ago, but for SIXTY years she selflessly laid down her life day and night to provide medical care & training to the 30,000 people living in the Gulf Province, only finally retiring last year! This 40 minute documentary is that story! “

Thanks to all the generous people that gave towards Amea's School! She has bought a solar kit with some of the money, so that she is able to do school work in the evenings, in her village. We are working with her to try and purchase all the other things her school really needs. Thanks to givealittle for making this possible.

Amea is a young woman with a mission to change education in the Gulf of Papua New Guinea.

If you would like to support her work https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/education-in-the-gulf-of-papua-new-guinea

Her own schooling was erratic and she had to persevere through many challenges, like absent teachers and a lack of resources. Throughout all this, a firm resolve grew that one day she would do what she could to make schooling better for the little ones in her village. Her chance came when she was sent by her village church to attend a short training course at Kapuna Life School. Here her passion for teaching flourished and she was invited to be part of a one-year teacher trainee course. This course, supported by Kapuna Life School, taught teachers how to use Uniskript (Uniskript idea comes from University of the Nations (YWAM) www.uofnkona.edu/ministries/uniskript/) to help children learn to read and write in their own language, making the jump to mastering written English much more manageable. Amea took hold of this as a key that would help her children to succeed. Now, Amea can be found teaching her fifty-eight students using reading books she writes and illustrates herself. The thankful parents in her village bring her crabs, sago and bananas from time to time to show their appreciation. It is Amea’s love for her children and her faith that God is good that keeps her going.
