"Being from Curacao, I didn't feel culture shocked at all.I have already experienced diversity before in my former school but nothing of this magnitude! The UWC movement is so successful just because you get to live in a boarding house with people from different countries from different cultural backgrounds. This model is good because of diversity, because people develop their perspectives.We gain knowledge about cultures we may never have witnessed."
When asked about the advantages of being short she replied;
"people underestimate you because of your height and the look on their faces when you prove them wrong is priceless"

"Free Media is a photography club created by UWC Maastricht students that give a face to every single UWC student". With the arrival of first years, we have taken the initiative to help students get to know each other and we are using the use of Free Media to give a voice to those who are left unheard.

So without further ado we listen into the story of Ahmad Sharif from Lebanon
"My sister is 10 years old, her name is Wafaa. My fondest memory of her was when I used to p**s her off when she was 6 years old. Coming to UWC has made me realize the value of family especially my sister. I wish I could have spent more time with her. When I go back, I will spend more time with her when I go back to show her my love for her.
