On this international women's day we are taking a moment to celebrate the awesomeness of all women.

So, this is a perfect moment to put Vix in the spotlight. Averaging 6+ continents per year during the last 3 years, changing career and moving to another country is something only most daydream about.

Here's to my "always on a adventure" fiancée ❤️

A top secret NATO-cave in walking distance of our home? Yep, just a 20-minute walk and you'll find the entrance to a former NATO-headquarters (a cold war bunker to be more precise) which was used as a command center for the allied forces in northwest Europe from 1954 until 1992.

There is just too much history to summarise. But hopefully the 📸 📸 📸 do it some justice. It's hard to imagine this place was a well guarded secret (maybe not its location, but what went on inside). Also, they kept the temperature at a cozy 20°C and people were allowed to smoke --> in a bunker! 🤔

Highland cows!? Bang in the middle in the Netherlands!? But why!? And how!?

Well, one might actually joke that they are employed by the Dutch. They are hard working but low maintenance. They eat almost anything and by doing so, keeping the vegetation in check.

So if you're ever wondering about in the largest continuous protected nature reserve in north west Europe. Don't be surprised when bumping into these photogenic beauties.

Vix is playing around in 🇳🇿 and I'm back in Putten ( 🇳🇱 ). Putten might not be as exciting as the polar regions. But it's where I grew up and therefore will always be special to me. So definitely expect some more posts about it ;).

This morning I got up early and, before sunrise, walked into the "Putterbos" hoping to find deer or wolves. The latter made me a bit nervous 😬.

I didn't find any wildlife. But I did find the "Solse G*t" which (legend has it) used to be the location of a monastery of which the serving monks misbehaved so badly that, as if by devine intervention, it disseapered overnight. A story I always enjoyed imagining as a child.

A new addition is a wooden "Medusa". A fallen tree transformed into a quite unsettling snake headed lady.
