Marian Laudin — a remarkable life in tennis.

From Czechoslovakia to the Netherlands, from top-level player to one of the most influential coaches in Dutch tennis.

Marian reached No. 2 in the Dutch rankings, just behind Tom Okker, and went on to dedicate decades of his life to developing players and sharing his knowledge of the game. He coached generations of Dutch talent and became a true bridge between different eras of international tennis.

What struck me most when I met Marian was not only his extraordinary knowledge and network, but his continued passion for the game — and his genuine gratitude for the Netherlands, the country that gave him a new opportunity and a new life.

This portrait is my small tribute to a man who has given so much to tennis in the Netherlands.

Thank you, Marian, for the stories, the passion and the perspective.
