Today a Then & Now that was used in the magazine 40-45 Toen en Nu no. 204 page 12, the old ‘After the battle’.

Magazine caption: Around noon, Van der Randen captured how the first British vehicles drove onto Dam Square from the Rokin and the population streamed in from all sides. (W. van der Randen, N.A.)
Below: Marc made this comparison from the same position as Van der Randen (Marc van Baasbank).

In the comments you’ll find the link to the reel from ‘the making of’ this Then & Now.

Magazine caption: The crowd left only a narrow passage for the vehicles. This is the northeastern corner of the Dam with the Nieuwewendijk and the western building of the ‘Ersatzkommando Niederlande’ on the right, and the Eggertsraat and the Nieuwe Kerk on the left (Ben van Meerendonk,

Magazine caption: The British reconnaissance unit enters the center of Amsterdam, with BS member and photographer Tonny van Renterghem as guide. Here he stands on the lead armored vehicle, which has been christened 'Beau Sabreur' (all armored vehicles of B-Squadron had a name starting with a 'B'). The photo was taken facing southwest at the intersection of Leidsestraat and Prinsenstraat (WW2 Image Bank - NIOD). Below: A perfect comparison by Marc van Baasbank. For this shot alone, he went on a photo assignment to Amsterdam for the fourth time for this article: 'We do it right or we don't do it at all' is his motto.

Magazine caption: The area in front of the Kriegsmarine post in the Groote Club was cordoned off with roadblocks and guarded by a sentry. This photo was taken some time before the shooting, because the stage, the speaker's lectern, and the marquee that had been erected in front of the palace on May 7 are not yet there (Le Coultre, Image Bank WWII- WO2-NIOD).
Below: The photo was taken from the northern end of the Kalverstraat. A perfect comparison on an early Sunday morning (Marc van Baasbank).

Today, a Then & Now that was used in the magazine 40-45 Toen en Nu no. 204, page 9, the old After the battle. Since the SS logo is not allowed to be displayed on Facebook, I have modified it slightly to avoid a page penalty, however ridiculous this may be.

Caption magazine: Top: During the war, the SS established the 'Nebenstelle Amsterdam' of the 'Ersatzkommando Niederlande' on the Dam, primarily for recruiting volunteers for the Waffen-SS. The office was located in two buildings on either side of the Nieuwendijk. This is the building on the eastern corner (N.A.). Bottom: A clothing store is now housed in the building (Marc van Baasbank).

Caption: Top: May 15, 1940. Motorcycles of the SS Regiment 'Der Führer', part of the SS-Verfügungs-Division, have arrived at Dam Square. The photo was taken facing south in front of the former park, where the National Monument now stands. We are looking into the Rokin (N.A.). Bottom: The SS members have been replaced by tourists (Marc van Baasbank).

Today, a Then & Now from the Lekstraat in Amsterdam. While shooting this T&N, the sun was shining brightly, causing a significant reflection on the window. I will go back again for a better version. Special thanks go to the current residents who enabled me to take this T&N.

On Sunday morning, June 20, 1943, the Germans carried out major raids in Amsterdam East and South. In the early hours, hundreds of German policemen, members of the Volunteer Auxiliary Police, and several dozen men specially transferred from the Jewish Order Service from Westerbork camp went into action. Jews were ordered to gather, packed and ready, at locations in the neighborhood.

This photo was taken from a home on Lekstraat as unnoticed as possible. Two empty tea cups sit on the windowsill. In front of the door on the corner of Lekstraat and Kinderdijkstraat, Jews have been gathered with their luggage.
