Marlike Marks is an autonomous photographer based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. She recently won the jury prize at De Kracht van Rotterdam 2018. Currently she is working on several photographic stories in which she focuses on love, human relationships and identity.
This photo is part of an ongoing project in which Marlike Marks investigates contemporary romantic love. She travels throughout the Netherlands and talks with couples about love. Together they determine which elements and moments define their love, a balance between documenting and staging. Marlike's honest approach creates intimate images of daily rituals. How do they form their relationships and what choices have they made, what is love, does ‘the one’ exist? It her personal search for answers to questions with which she struggles.
