To rebate or not to rebate? Negative carrier on my enlarger has these slits on either side, so I thought it could be a fun addition to the frame itself 😉 I reckon it works here, even though the rebate print is not the cleanest or best positioned. What do you think?

Survive. - Walked along the beach on one of the windiest days ever, wanted to finish off a roll and decided to roll the dice on something I had never done before: put the camera down to the ground, point the (mystery wide-angle macro) lens vaguely at the shell, trust autofocus (!!!) and auto exposure to figure it all out and press the button. The focus ended up slightly closer than I wanted but I'm still amazed that it worked out this well. Maybe I should let go of control more often?

Oh and those streaks and lines? They are not the result of my shoddy film handling, they are actually tiny streams of fine sand propelled by the wind!

You've come a long way. - it was a very windy day, so everyone was trying to hide in their coats and only this one kid was walking through the sand barefoot, careless and happy. Let's be more like that kid.

One spot, two cameras. - A couple of shots I took during my latest self-challenge (and YouTube video!). Which one do you like better (or dislike more furiously)? I am genuinely torn between these two and need YOUR help!

1. MPP Microcord, Fomapan 400, Adox FX-39, red filter

2. Kiev-3/Jupiter-8, Rollei RPX 400, Moersch Tanol Speed, red filter

Do check out the video, it was a lot of fun to make and I hope it is as much fun to watch!

(...and why not subscribe while you're at it? 😜)

One spot, three cameras No.2. - Second 'triptych' from my latest self-challenge (and YouTube video - link in the bio!). Which one is your favourite?

TLR allowed me to get a low angle, Horizont pushed the figure in the distance MUCH further than they really were and amplified the perspective, and the Kiev... Not sure what that did hah.

2. Kiev-3/Jupiter-8, Rollei RPX 400, Moersch Tanol Speed

3. MPP Microcord, Fomapan 400, Adox FX-39

Do check out the video, it was a lot of fun to make and I hope it is as much fun to watch!

Routines are useful and cozy but it's a good idea to break them every once in a while - go out there and do something new, something that doesn't feel familiar or put you at ease. That is the idea behind a new subseries on my YouTube channel (you knew I had one, right?), titled "Never Have I Ever"!

For the inaugural episode, I did something that might seem easy-peasy to many people but is none of that to me: shooting the same location/scene with multiple (and VERY different!) cameras side by side. Is it a soft start? Yes. Was it a challenge though? Oh yes. And was it fun? You betcha! And I reckon some shots came out quite alright in the end 😉

I will be posting all the photos from this little challenge in the coming days, so watch this space!

All paths lead to... - Westduinpark has one feature rarely found in the Netherlands: natural elevation! And elevation means some pretty darn impressive views of the Hague skyline. I'm sensing this one doing just fine as a print 😉

P.s. Agfa Copex Rapid is a resolution monster. Second shot is a 100% crop, need to print large and/or scan with stitching to fully exploit all the detail in the 6x6 negative.

Composed the shot and waited about 15min for the guy to do a bungee jump - ...only to have these two lovebirds walk into the frame PRECISELY as he finally jumped đŸ˜đŸ˜đŸ¤ŖđŸ¤Ŗ Icing on the cake: you can still see the guy in freefall as he 'flew' right between my accidental models!

What's the verdict: ruined shot or a happy accident?

Spot the word that doesn't belong: street, handheld, movement, infrared. WRONG! Here's my first experiment with handheld IR, helped by a quiet/low vibration twin-lens-reflex camera and pushing the film a few stops. Do the swipe thing and let me know which one you like (or dislike?) best!

(In the Netherlands, the most abundant moving subjects are cyclists, of course. And an occasional red tram - which is why it's so bright 😉 )
