Wild heart ❤️‍🔥🐎, Western soul 🌄🤎🌾

Throwing it back to last year… I still remember that day at The Lodge in Gilze like it was yesterday. The sun was low, the dust hung in the air, and every corner of the set screamed Western adventure.

I was there with the incredible Dani, who completely owned every frame, boots, hat, and that fearless look that makes a story come alive. 🤠✨ We wandered through the dusty trails, climbed wooden platforms, and let the light guide us, chasing that perfect shot that captures more than just a pose, it captures a feeling.

The day was organized by Wim van Wel, and the set? Absolutely epic. From the small western town details to the sun-soaked horizons, it felt like stepping into another world, a world made for stories, freedom, and a little bit of rebellion. 🌾📸

I can’t wait to share the full series with you all. Every frame has its own little adventure, its own energy. Swipe through and get lost in the dust, sunlight, and wild spirit of the day. Every photo tells a piece of the story, and this is just the beginning.

Here, Mike embodies the Guardian of the Old Ways, sharing a silent moment with his beautiful companion, the owl. The lighting, the setting, the deep colors. it all came together to create something timeless and powerful.

Sonbeekpark, PURE MAGIC!

So here’s the story. I met this model through TikTok (yep, the internet doing its thing again), and last month we finally made a photoshoot happen. We picked Sonbeekpark in Arnhem, one of my favorite spots. that little waterfall there? It’s an absolute gem. The sound, the light, the textures… it’s like nature’s own backdrop.

I shot this with my Canon and the 85mm f/1.2, one of my all-time favorite portrait lenses. Added a bit of punch using two Godox AD400 Pros with a softbox, and boom. W created something that just feels alive. The soft light cutting through the mist from the waterfall gave us that cinematic depth I’m always chasing.

Moments like this remind me why I love photography. it’s not just about the gear (though the gear helped 😎), it’s about the connection, the story, and catching that vibe when everything just clicks.

🎬 Bluff (2025) – Behind the Scenes! 🎬

I had the absolute pleasure of being the set photographer for Bluff! 😍

This short film follows a brother and sister caught in a high-stakes poker game where the stakes get dangerously high. 🎲💥

Bluff was a 24-hour passion project: written in a few hours, shot in one long day. It was a true team effort, and I feel so lucky to have been part of it!

Normally, I keep my edits neutral, but for this project I couldn’t resist giving the shots a bit of a cinematic vibe. 🎥 It was tough to edit everything so fast, but the result feels energetic and filmic. just right for the story.

Auto shoot met Jane-January & Dani

Deze shoot was gewoon 🔥 Jane-January en Dani hadden een brute locatie en nog bruter blik op de styling en auto's. Verschillende outfits, andere vibes, en alles klopte gewoon. Love it als mensen all-in gaan en dat zie je terug in de foto's.

Gear-wise: geschoten met m’n Canon body + 85mm lens (zoals altijd: lekker veel compressie, mooie bokeh). Had ook twee flashes mee om wat extra pit te geven. Eén van die units deed trouwens raar tijdens de shoot — begon ineens z’n eigen leven te leiden 🙃 (is inmiddels gefixt, gelukkig). Maar zelfs daarmee: alles eruit gehaald die dag.

Dikke respect voor de dames. ze ownen het voor de lens.

🔥 Forge of Fate 🔥
Beneath the thatched roof of the longhouse, the air shimmered with heat and history. Sparks leapt like spirits as she leaned over the flame — not just shaping iron, but summoning something older.

Her hands, steady and sure, moved with the memory of those who forged blades not for war alone, but for destiny. Each strike against the coals echoed a rhythm older than the sagas.
Beside her, the bellows whispered breath into the fire, feeding its hunger.

This was no act. No performance.
This was a rite.

She was no longer just a model.
She was the forge-witch of forgotten times. A priestess of iron and ember.
And for a heartbeat, I didn’t feel like a photographer.
I felt like a witness.

🖤 Between Shadow and Flame 🖤

The fire crackled low, casting dancing light across her braids, each strand a whisper from the ancestors. She sat silent in the half-dark, fingers sifting through carved runes and herbs, her gaze steady but distant… as if seeing a battle yet to come.

They called her shieldmaiden and keeper of forgotten truths. Few dared approach her booth at the edge of the Iron Age village, but those who did never left unchanged. Some came seeking cures. Others came for answers. All paid a price.

This moment, captured during Roel the Warrior King at IJzertijdboerderij Dongen, wasn’t posed. It was lived.
The air was thick with smoke and old stories. Horns echoed in the distance. And in that fleeting instant, the world of men and myth became one.

She did not speak. She didn’t need to.
The gods had already spoken.

Ik was gisteren bij The Lodge in Gilze voor een shoot tijdens een event van Remco en Leonie en deze dag had alles. De vibe, de organisatie, de mensen. Maar vooral: de mijnen.

Verborgen achter verweerd hout en staal vond ik een ruimte die aanvoelde als een andere wereld. Rauw, stoffig, echoënd, perfect om iets te maken dat voelt. Geen gelikt plaatje, maar karakter. Die muren, die metalen balken, dat schemerlicht… het ademde verhaal.

Ik bouwde het licht laag en gericht: twee AD400 Pro’s met 7” reflectoren, grids van 10° en 30°, snoeihard wanneer het moest. De Pavotube op een C-stand bovenin en eentje op de grond voor dat subtiele gloeien, dat randje drama. Alles gecontroleerd, maar net niet gepolijst.

En het werkte. Modellen die meededen met volle overtuiging, poses die bijna theatraal aanvoelden, en beelden die bleven hangen. Dit was geen shoot, dit was een sessie.

Na afloop: tafels vol eten en gesprekken die net zo diep gingen als de schaduwen in de mijnen. Oude bekenden, nieuwe gezichten — allemaal verbonden door beeld en verhaal.

Remco, Leonie — jullie maken dit mogelijk. En voor iedereen die voor de lens stond: zonder jullie geen beelden, zonder beelden geen beleving.
