One year ago. Happy anniversary, my love 🤍

During the adventure around the old Belgian town, we ended up in a church.

It was only a pre-wedding shoot, not even their wedding day yet.

He happened to walk in first.

Then random music started playing.

And as he turned around, she walked in and the sun started shining down on her.

And his eyes teared up.

Oh how things come together sometimes 🤍

As they got out of the car, their lively spirit was immediately visible.

Having left not only The Netherlands, but the burdens that that fast-paced life brought with it, they followed their dream and moved to Spain.

And it showed. The relaxation and joy.

What an example.

We took the path down into the valley and expected to take quite a while because of their lovely 3-year-old son Loavie.

But while we all put one foot in front of another, Loavie was close to flying down.

During the shoot I found a moment for Sasja and Marcel together.

While Loavie was running around, skipping rocks and jumping around in the water, they had a moment to themselves.

Exactly as they were, peaceful.

Time and time again we get told we’re copies. Neither one of us sees it.

And though our looks may be similar, our characters are vastly different.

But the love is always present and tangible.

And there’s so many more things I got from her.

Encouragement to always follow my heart.

To take steps that most people are afraid of.

She is the living example that starting a business at 40 is not only possible, but a life changer in every possible way.

She proposed the idea of me moving to Australia at 18 - because she saw what I wanted and made my needs bigger than the pain that it would bring her.

She taught me about powering through when giving up is easier.

And that some things are worth fighting for - and other had better be let go.

We talk about our businesses all the time. My mother is my business buddy.

And sometimes we look through photos - of my parents’ wedding or pictures I took of her.

And then, all of a sudden, I see glimpses of it. The resemblance.

It’s like looking into my own future. And it tells me this:

If I am that kind of person in 25 years, the kind that is wise, powerful and innovative, then I am one lucky gal who cannot wait to get old.

I can feel a shift in Agapè Stories: it’s not about the quantity anymore. It never was in the first place, but it’s more about quality than ever.

High season is around the corner and this year I feel like I have found the balance I’ve been wanting to find for years.

I am over the moon with the weddings I have booked, both for photography and film.

We’ll be traveling to Spain and Scotland to capture love stories and I can already feel the creativity bursting.

My husband .munki and I are not only becoming more of a team in our marriage, but also in the business. He will be joining me for most of the weddings this coming year.

And he has amazing video- and photography qualities to bring to the table.

And me? I know how to tell a story, but I want to challenge myself to go to a higher level.

Not because I feel more pressure, but because I feel excited about it: the time is right to step it up.

Next to that, I’ve become super passionate about coaching other photographers and videographers to build a proper business without wearing themselves out.

Long story short, I am in a really good place and it feels like I’ve been waiting a long time to be able to say this:

Now they’re about to embark on a new journey: building an eco village.
