Some places seem to hold silence differently. As a Dane who has called Norway home for many years, these days feel strangely close to the heart. The passing of King Harald is the loss of a King, but somehow also the loss of something deeply human - a quiet presence that seemed to belong to the mountains, the valleys and the people of this country. I am not a religious man, and perhaps I have never needed to be. I find my peace in other places - beneath an open September sky, in the silence of old timber, in places like Heddal where centuries have passed and still something remains. Maybe faith is not always about believing. Maybe sometimes it is simply about standing still long enough to feel that we are only here for a little while - and being grateful for those who leave a little warmth behind when they go. Rest in peace, King Harald 🇳🇴
