☀️ Officially the warmest day of the year in Tromsø! 🌡️

After what has been the warmest spring on record, we’re stepping into summer with unusually high temperatures here in the north. Today, Tromsø reached 23°C (73°F), making it the warmest day of the year so far. 🌞

According to the latest 10-day forecast, even warmer days may be ahead, with temperatures approaching 25°C (77°F). 🔥

While we recognize that these temperatures may not be the best sign when it comes to climate trends, people are still making the most of some much-appreciated sunshine and warmth after a long, dark winter. ❄️☀️

When one day quietly slips into the next, without darkness ever taking hold, you realize that you are witnessing something truly extraordinary. The clock passes midnight, yet the light still lingers across the landscape as if the sun has forgotten it was ever meant to set. Mountains, sea, and sky are bathed in a golden glow, and time itself seems to lose its familiar meaning.

There is something surreal about standing there as a new day begins, while night never truly arrives. The silence deepens, yet the light remains. It feels as though nature itself pauses for a moment, allowing you to experience something that cannot be fully captured in words.

The Power of Art

“Art” is an abstract concept that is difficult to define. At the same time, some works of art leave a lasting impression unlike anything else..

When guests come to visit us, one of the very first things they say they want to see is ‘Gateway to the Arctic’ by Marit Bockelie.

Together with her collaborators, Bockelie created a truly unique landmark in Tromsø. The fact that the artist was over 90 years old when the work was completed makes the achievement beyond extraordinary.

A frightening experience in the mountains — shared as a warning to others. ⚠️😱

What was supposed to be the perfect ending to ski touring season for .kopala could have ended very differently. Ten days ago, he experienced a near-fatal avalanche incident in the mountains. On his own Instagram, he shares the powerful story of how he noticed the warning signs, yet still chose to continue — driven by the joy of being in the mountains and enjoying a dream day.

Thankfully, Morten was lucky. Many others are not.

We want to share this message because we believe it’s incredibly important. It’s a reminder that nature is unpredictable and unforgiving. We don’t want to scare anyone away from the mountains we all love so much — but we do want to encourage caution. If you are ever unsure, choosing the safe way home is always the right decision.

It’s fun to ride down steep mountain faces — but it’s even better to see your friends and family again. 🙏🏽❤️
