🇬🇧EN: When we think about yards mostly we think about Italian, French, Spanish or Portuguese tradional vineyards. In the Azores we also find vineyards but in unique displays. Islands usually don't have climate that can support wine production and in the Azores depending on orientation and elevation the caracteristic of the soil and air can vary a lot! So there are only a few places that can actually sustain wineyards. This wineyars were a product of remarkable resience of the settler that first came to this islands. Due to lack of soil the wives have to be planted straight in the basaltic rock and for protection this walls are erected to protect them from rough weather! ⛰
🇵🇹🇵🇹PT: Quando pensamos em vinhas, as ideias de vinha mais recorrentes são as vinhas típicas portuguesas, espanholas, francesas ou italianas. Nos Açores também encontramos vinhas, cultivadas de formas únicas. Ilhas são regra geral incompatíveis com a cultura vitivinícola, sendo que em curta distância as condições de solo e ar podem variar consideravelmente. Assim, restam poucos lugares em que as condições são boas o suficiente para o cultivo das parras. As vinhas são o produto da resiliência dos colonos que foram para as ilhas e estas vinhas são deveras obras megalomanas. As plantas têm pouco solo e são plantadas directamente na rocha basáltica. Já os muros são erectos para proteger a vinha de intempéries. ⛰
