Pradeep Raj Onta: A Trailblazing Photojournalist and Media Visionary

Onta’s career in photojournalism has been marked by notable achievements. He has served as a senior photojournalist at the National News Agency (RSS) since 2012, documenting some of Nepal’s most important events. His dedication to the profession has earned him several prestigious awards, including:
• Best Photojournalist Award (2023) – Presented by Rt. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda at the Reporter’s Club Nepal.
• Best Photojournalist of the Year (2016) – Awarded by Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari.
• Best Photographer of the Year (2016 BS) – Certified by the National News Agency (RSS).
• Final Jury for Sainik Photo Competition (2021) and Jury Member for Miss Nepal 2018 (Miss Photogenic Category). His ability to capture compelling visuals has made him a sought-after figure in the field, earning him recognition for his contributions to media and photography. Beyond photography, Onta has been actively involved in media leadership. Since 2021, he has served as President of the National Forum of Photojournalists (NFPJ) Nepal, where he has worked to promote and support photographers across the country. • Conducted photojournalism training in Karnali and Madhesh provinces (2020), organized by RSS.
• Served as a special trainer at Nepal Press Union Sunsari (2022) and Nepal Photo Patrakar Sangha (2019, 2021).
• Led a Virtual Photography Workshop (2022) under NFPJ Nepal. His dedication to education extends to his role as a photography trainer at Swostishree Gurukul, Swayambhu, and as an official photographer at South Western State College since 2018. Diverse Professional Roles

From January 2023 to January 2024, he served in the Personal Secretariat of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, further showcasing his influence in Nepal’s media and political circles. Additionally, he is the official photographer for Global IME Bank Nepal (since 2020) and the CEO of Season Media Pvt. Ltd, a company specializing in event management and fashion photography. Rescue and Relief Operations Intensify in Trishuli After Floods

Bhadra 13, 2083, Nuwakot, Trishuli.
A devastating flood in the Bhotekoshi River has caused extensive damage in Trishuli Bazaar, Nuwakot. Houses and other structures have been damaged, while parts of the market area have been reduced to a riverbed.

Nepal Army and Nepal Police personnel, along with rescue teams, are continuing search and rescue operations in the affected areas despite the risks. Helicopters are also being used to deploy rescue personnel and transport relief supplies and other essential materials to the affected areas.

आज १९ अगस्ट २०२६ का दिन विश्वभर मनाइँदै गरिएको १८७औँ विश्व फोटोग्राफी दिवसको अवसरमा राष्ट्रिय फोटोपत्रकार समूह नेपाल (NFPJ Nepal) का तर्फबाट सम्पूर्ण फोटोपत्रकार, फोटोग्राफर, सञ्चारकर्मी, पत्रकार, कलाकार तथा फोटोप्रेमीहरूमा हार्दिक शुभकामना व्यक्त गर्दछु।

फोटोग्राफी केवल दृश्य कैद गर्ने माध्यम मात्र नभई समाज, समय, इतिहास, संस्कृति र मानव जीवनका महत्वपूर्ण घटनालाई अभिलेखीकरण गर्ने शक्तिशाली माध्यम हो। विशेषगरी फोटोपत्रकारिताले सत्य, तथ्य र घटनालाई तस्वीरमार्फत आम नागरिकसमक्ष सूचना पुर्‍याउँदै लोकतन्त्र, प्रेस स्वतन्त्रता र सूचनाको अधिकारलाई सुदृढ बनाउन महत्वपूर्ण योगदान गर्दै आएको छ।

नेपालको सन्दर्भमा पनि फोटोपत्रकारहरूले प्राकृतिक विपद्, राजनीतिक परिवर्तन, सामाजिक आन्दोलन, संस्कृति, पर्यटन, वातावरण, खेलकुद तथा राष्ट्रिय तथा अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय महत्वका घटनाहरूलाई आफ्नो क्यामेरामार्फत दस्तावेजीकरण गर्दै आएका छन्। नेपाली फोटोपत्रकारिताले नेपालको मौलिकता, प्राकृतिक सौन्दर्य, सांस्कृतिक विविधता र सामाजिक जीवनलाई विश्वसामु चिनाउन समेत उल्लेखनीय भूमिका निर्वाह गरेको छ।

यस वर्षको विश्व फोटोग्राफी दिवसलाई विशेष रूपमा मनाउने क्रममा राष्ट्रिय फोटोपत्रकार समूह नेपाल (NFPJ Nepal) ले हनुमानढोका दरबार परिसरमा बंगलादेश फोटो पत्रकार संघ (BPJA) बाट नेपाल भ्रमणमा आउनुभएका १२ जना फोटो पत्रकारहरूको सहभागितामा ‘सुन्दर बंगलादेश’ फोटो प्रदर्शनी आयोजना गरेको छ। यसैगरी, चाइना कल्चरल सेन्टर नेपालको आयोजनामा नेपाल भ्रमणमा गएका नेपाली फोटोपत्रकारहरूले चीनमा खिचेका करिब ५० वटा सुन्दर तथा महत्वपूर्ण तस्वीरहरूको ‘Through the Eyes of Nepali Photojournalists – China’ फोटो प्रदर्शनी पनि हनुमानढोका दरबार परिसरमा आयोजना गरिएको छ।

नेपाल, बंगलादेश र चीनका फोटोपत्रकार तथा सांस्कृतिक संस्थाबीचको सहकार्यमा आयोजना गरिएका यी फोटो प्रदर्शनीहरूले तीन देशबीचको सांस्कृतिक आदान–प्रदान, आपसी मित्रता, पर्यटन प्रवद्र्धन तथा जनस्तरको सम्बन्धलाई थप सुदृढ बनाउन महत्वपूर्ण योगदान गर्ने विश्वास लिएको छु। तस्वीरको माध्यमबाट देश, समाज र संस्कृतिलाई नजिकबाट बुझ्ने तथा आपसी सम्बन्धलाई अझ प्रगाढ बनाउने यो एउटा महत्वपूर्ण अवसर पनि हो।

साथै, नेपालमा फोटोग्राफी तथा फोटोपत्रकारिताको विकासका लागि निरन्तर सहयोग, सहकार्य र सद्भाव प्रदान गर्ने सरकारी तथा गैरसरकारी निकाय, सञ्चारमाध्यम, पर्यटन क्षेत्र, कूटनीतिक तथा सांस्कृतिक संस्थाहरू, स्वदेशी तथा विदेशी फोटोपत्रकार र सम्पूर्ण शुभेच्छुकहरूप्रति हार्दिक आभार व्यक्त गर्दछु।

It was a pleasure and an honor to attend the **13th Edition of the "Dress to Impress" Fashion Designer Competition**, organized by **IIFT Fashion Design College**, as a guest.

The event was a wonderful celebration of creativity, innovation, and emerging talent in Nepal's fashion industry. It was inspiring to witness the outstanding work presented by the young designers, whose passion and originality promise a bright future for fashion in Nepal.

Congratulations to all the winners on their well-deserved success, and my best wishes to every participant for their dedication and hard work.

My sincere appreciation goes to **Mr. Tenzing Sherpa, Chairman of IIFT Fashion Design College**, and the entire organizing team for their vision, dedication, and excellent management in making this event a grand success.
