North island Robin Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari

Found this little one working the forest floor at Sanctuary Mountain — dappled light breaking through the canopy, landing right where the moss glows brightest. North Island robins are famously curious; this one hopped closer to investigate rather than the other way around.

Maungatautari’s predator-free fence has given these birds room to thrive, and it shows — healthy numbers, bold and unbothered by visitors on the track.
