My stacked photos of G3 ATLAS. Taken at Piha, Auckland New Zealand on 24 January 2025.

Lens: WO Redcat 51 f/4.9, 250mm
Mount: CEM26
First shot:

Second shot:
23, 20” shots, ISO3200 (11m20s integration time)
I took this series of shots as G3 ATLAS was close to setting for the evening. The last 6 minutes or so, the comet went red due to the atmospheric haze. Initially I removed those shots and created the second image you see on the post. I really like the clean blue and white. It feels a bit more delicate and gossamer-like.
I then integrated that final 6 minutes. I decided to work out the white balance after stacking and as a result , I got an amazing show of colours. It feels wider, stronger and more robust, but also still see the individual streams of dust in its tail. The anti-tail looks amazing.
I can’t choose between the two my favourite so I won’t, but I’m very happy to have created something of this quality.
