N8836C "Spirit of Douglas" [Douglas DC-3A] seen at AKL and AMZ.

New to the USAAF as 42-47371 in 1942, it was involved in airlift operations over The Hump, the Eastern end of the Himalayas as part of the 1st Troop Carrier Squadron, 10th Air Force.

After the war, it was sold to Central Air Transport Corporation from India.

By the end of the decade, it was sold to General Claire L. Chennault, formerly of the Flying Tigers and Whiting Willauer, making it part of the Civil Air Transport fleet. Latterly, it would operate under the Air Asia name, part of Air America. This airline was run by the CIA.

Upon returning to the US, it spent time with TEMCO Aircraft, and in 1955, it was converted to a DC-3-S1C3G complete with a VIP interior and Viewmaster style windows.

In 1999, it was named "Spirit of Enterprise." Then c. 2009, it was named "Spirit of Benovia."

In 2024, it was repainted from Civil Air Transport colours, which it had worn since 2019 into its current scheme and renamed Spirit of Douglas.

It is currently on a world tour and will be at Warbids Over Wānaka in April.

Silver Fern Coachlines #05 [Volvo B10R/Designline] seen on cruise ship shuttle duties recently.

New to Ritchies as #579, it was rebuilt with a Designline body in 2005. Omnibus Society records indicate that the chassis was from 2004. I am further relaibily informed that the chassis was acquired by Designline from China and has the running gear of a B10.

It was sold to Silver Fern around the time they established themselves in 2024 and has subsequently been named "Telly Tubby."
