Absolutely mesmerised by the life-giving, Aroha-overflowing, tīpuna-inspired and deeply creative works of Whare Harekoa — by the incredible Lissy & Rudi.

As I entered the space, I saw people from all walks of life, waiting to be called in to experience the whare. A kōhanga had been waiting to go up onto the stage — the tamariki were a little unsettled at first, but the moment they stepped into the whare, the soundscape began, and the lights dimmed… they settled. Calm washed over them.

That’s exactly how I felt. After a full-on week, juggling so many things, my mind was racing even as I arrived. But as soon as I stepped into the whare, I became fully present — with myself, with the wairua of the space, and with the magnificence that surrounded me.

After a time of just sitting and being, I picked up my camera and began to capture what I saw.

How blessed are we to have creative, courageous, and beautiful souls like Lissy & Rudi walking among us.
